Summary of Responsibilities:





Have you considered what Foster Care in Alaska looks like? How the behavioral/mental health needs of children in foster care are met? Treatment Foster Care or Therapeutic Treatment Foster Homes (TTH) provides the best elements of foster care and residential treatment. As the Recruitment/Marketing Specialist - Therapeutic Treatment Services (RMS)you will be able to improve children\xe2\x80\x99s lives by screening and recruiting Treatment Foster Parents. You will not just be finding perspective foster parents, but you will then guide them through the licensing process achieving timely and thoughtful application processing. The relationship does not stop there! While continuing to build your relationship with the TTHs, you will create a retention plan and lead efforts to keep our current TTHs. Recruiting Foster Parents:

  • Working with the Licensing Team you will develop a yearly recruitment plan that will be approved by the Director of Community Programs (DCP) with monthly and quarterly goals to help measure your success!
Implementing the Plan
  • Collaborating with the Treatment Foster Care Clinical Supervisor (TFC CS) you will implement the plan and make adjustments as needed to maximize your results.
  • Through connecting with faith-based organizations, Alaska Native agencies, and other partners you will promote TTH opportunities in the community.
  • Working with the IT Department and others you will maintain the agency\xe2\x80\x99s online recruitment presence, such as Facebook, to maximize our visibility and reach out to current and future TTHs.
  • Representing the agency with a professional presence and attending agency and external meetings will allow you develop as the face of our program.
  • Collaboratively with the Communications Department you will maintain and establish a variety of promotional material including banners, handout, brochures, PSAs, DVDs, etc. for foster home events.
  • By maintaining programing and initiatives which are aligned with the agency\xe2\x80\x99s long and short-term goals positively impacting the program\xe2\x80\x99s success.
Retaining the Treatment Foster Homes:
  • Developing and implementing an agency retention plan which includes activities like, monthly trainings and foster parent appreciation events, to name a few. These events will contribute to the success of your retention plan.
Supporting the Treatment Foster Homes by:
  • Supervising the foster homes, you will ensure their compliance with state regulations and agency policy and procedure.
  • Supervising the foster home will include addressing concerns and any compliance needs.
  • Completing yearly performance appraisals and reviewing progress notes to ensure Medicaid standards will support the home in meeting Medicaid standards.
  • Licensing functions include routine duties such as: completing tasks as assigned, providing and attending training, publishing a newsletter, and entering data to name a few.
  • Attending all OCS licensing trainings, being up to date in all OCS licensing policies and procedures while participating in the Community Programs emergency on-call rotation.
  • Adhering to the standards and regulations as set forth by the agency, The Joint Commission, and OCS licensing is critical for your success.
  • Abiding by all safety rules and regulations of the facility, working according to AK Child & Family policies, and the mission of AK Child & Family as well as its philosophy of care will be another measure of your success.
  • Cheerfully completing other duties as assigned.

Pay:
  • $20.00/hour +depending on education and experience
  • 3% pay increase after successful completion of 6-month Intro Period.





Supervision and Coordination of Services:



  • The RMS is supervised by the Therapeutic Foster Care- Clinical Supervisor.





Qualifications:



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • The RMS must be at least 21 years of age.
  • She/he must have an Alaska driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and have adequate insurance, as defined by AK Child & Family, in order to carry out the duties of the job.
  • The RMS must display an understanding and sensitivity in serving a culturally diverse and/or specials needs population.
  • The RMS must demonstrate proficiency in written and verbal English.
  • The RMS must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with agency staff as well as the general public, referral sources, and community providers.
  • She/he must work a flexible schedule, including after hours and on-call responsibilities to respond to client crisis.
  • The RMS must demonstrate ability to use a computer for both word processing and newsletter production.
Education and experience:
  • A bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in psychology, social work or a related field, and two years\xe2\x80\x99 experience working with children/adolescents impacted by severe emotional disturbance, and families, is preferred; or
  • Five years\xe2\x80\x99 experience working with children/adolescents impacted by severe emotional disturbance, and their families.
  • Experience in marketing/sales and human relations is preferred.
  • Experience in supervision/ management is preferred.





Physical Demands:



  • The RMS must be able to access AK Child & Family and community buildings for meetings and agency activities.
  • He/she will transport self within the Anchorage Borough to meet with schools, families, and other involved parties.
  • He/She must produce in a timely manner, assessments and other documentation required by AK Child & Family, insurance and referral sources.
  • The RMS must be able to use a copy machine, fax machine, to produce legible youth records, and prepare reports using a computer.
  • The RMS must be able to develop and manage electronic tracking systems to ensure accountability for productivity measures for associated responsibilities.
