Job Description


John de la Howe - School for Agriculture is a state-funded, public, residential high school focused on providing a unique and challenging agricultural education program. Our school, the first statewide program of its kind in the nation, will allow students to receive hands-on training in the fields of agriculture, agribusiness, forestry, land management, food science, and more - all aimed at assessing the needs of modern farms. Our mission is to provide quality agricultural education that will enable its students to be the state\'s future leaders in agribusiness, business, and education.

Responsibilities of the Recreational Specialist III-

Plan, implement, and oversee recreational activities for students both evenings and weekends

Chaperone and supervise recreational activities. Including transporting students to and from activities.

Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of all campus/agency events such as: Howe-lloween, AG Fest, Campus Tailgate, 5K race, Orientation, Preview Days, Graduation, Move-In day, and other large campus events.

Ensure Activity/Game Room, Gym, and other activity spaces have appropriate supplies. Requisition and maintain appropriate supplies and equipment.

Plan, coordinate, implement, and oversee recreational activities for summer programs.

Keep Activity Room, Gym, and other activity spaces clean and tidy, ensuring that the spaces are safe and clean.

Instruct students on methods, techniques, and rules of various recreational activities.

Plans and coordinates intramural activities

Participates in campus committees as assigned

Other related duties as assigned A high school diploma and relevant program experience or a bachelor\'s degree in physical education, recreation, therapeutic recreation or related field can be submitted for experience.

Additional Requirements: Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. Valid driver\'s license required. Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application will be required to bring a copy of college transcript to the interview. A copy of the transcript may also be uploaded as an attachment to the application, if required by the hiring department or if desired by the applicant. Please note that some areas of the Department may require an official, certified copy of the transcript prior to hiring or within a specific timeframe required by that area, after hiring. Failure to produce an official, certified transcript may result in not being hired or termination.

Upon hiring, candidate must submit official college transcript or diploma for degree(s) obtained.

Experience working with agriculture related industry, youth and high school students, or student services related experience.
