: $63,242 - $73,203 Annually

8:30am - 5:30pm Monday-Friday with occasional nights and weekends

This position is devoted to providing recreation, programming and activities and management of recreational facilities. Serves as the formal supervisor of a recreation services function overseeing Recreation Specialists and part-time staff. Decision-making involves assisting the Recreation Services Manager in developing, implementing, and supervising a range of recreation programs and services.
Responsible for assessing current needs; conducting community surveys; coordinating program development and staff performing that development; developing recreation and program plans; identifying and contracting with vendors; overseeing facility operations; hiring, training, supervising and evaluating staff; overseeing front desk operations; processing facility rental contracts; marketing programs; organizing volunteers; evaluating programs and making modifications; monitoring budgets; providing customer service; maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment; assuring facility cleanliness and preparing reports.
Supervises support staff including conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, and implementing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures.
Duties/Responsibilities

Supervises recreation, related program and events; develops program or event plans and schedules; assesses community needs through surveys and other tools; supervises staff and volunteers, including planning, assigning, and evaluating work; evaluates programs and makes modifications; audits recreation facility operations and updates operating policies and procedures; and monitors program or facility expenditures.
Supervises facility usage and scheduling operations; ensures facility safety and cleanliness; assesses program and event needs and facility capacity; monitors supply inventories and ensures adequacy; identifies and contracts with vendors, gathering quotes and bids, ordering supplies, and ensuring that procurement activities comply with City policies and procedures.
Prepares, reviews, processes, and/or maintains reports, records, work orders, and other documentation; processes rental contracts; maintains databases; processes invoices, payments, purchase orders and deposits; enters, compiles, and reconciles data; prepares information reports; and proofs work for accuracy and completeness.
Oversees program and/or facility customer service; responds to and resolves escalated customer service issue; responds to inquiries, concerns, and complaints from residents, contractors, vendors, community groups, City departments, and/or external agencies; and facilitates and promotes programs and events.
POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES MIGHT INCLUDE:
Recreation
Positions assigned to recreation may be responsible for:Developing, implementing, and promoting recreation programs, planning program logistics, organizing program schedules, and purchasing equipment.
Preparing recreational program plans, reports, and related documentation.
Inspecting program or event sites and performing related quality assurance duties.
Serving on committees, attending meetings and performing community outreach and engagement.
Administrative Services
Positions assigned to administrative services may be responsible for:Coordinating facility management operations for assigned facilities.
Supervising staff, to include planning, assigning, and evaluating work, and implementing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures.
Coordinating facility usage operations.
Coordinating with vendors and contractors.
Processing rental contracts.
Providing customer service.
Promoting facility operations and programs.
Maintaining inventories.
Preparing work orders, reports, purchase orders, and other documentation.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
----------------------------------------
Associate's degree in recreation, leisure services, or related field
Four years of recreation program and/or facility management experience
Supervisory or lead experience
A valid Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification with Anaphylaxis and Epinephrine Auto Injector Certification within the first six months of employment.
Valid, unrestricted, North Carolina - Class C driver's license,"or" if you currently have another state's driver's license, must be willing and able to obtain a valid NC driver's license within 60 days of hire
