Job Description

Responsible for inspection of new production and repaired machined parts, sub-assemblies, final assemblies and tooling.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Examines items for defects in materials and damage occurring in transit.

Compares quantity and part number of items received with procurement data and other specifications to ensure completeness and accuracy of order.

Perform dimensional inspection of machined part components, subassemblies and assemblies though out the manufacturing cycle (using GD&T when applicable.)

Perform complex machined part and casting, sub assembly and final assembly first article inspection in accordance with AS9102 requirements to verify conformance to blueprints, engineering specifications and customer requirements.

Use a variety of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, coordinate measurement machine (CMM), optical gaging equipment and other gauging equipment.

Program coordinate measurement machine (CMM) and/or optical gaging equipment (Zip Lite Smart Scope.)

Develop dimensional gauging set-ups, perform part layout inspection and establish part inspection procedures.

Perform surface plate layout inspection.

Identify and document nonconforming product in a clear factual manner.

Audit test and assembly processes as required.

Interface with various customers or government representatives as required.

Process and complete required quality documentation.

Prepare detailed inspection plan (DIP) use in subsequent inspections, using data obtained from blueprints, customer specifications, and catalogs.

Interface with production and/or engineering personnel to resolve quality problems.

Provide cross training for inspectors on products and procedures.

Awareness of QMS procedures and work instructions requirements as it pertains to this role.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
