Operate safely and in compliance with all established HSSE policies and procedures
Complete incoming inspection of inbound freight documents for appropriate consignee, billing, freight/ hazmat description, PO#, piece count, weights and dimensions
Work with management to increase the efficiencies and accuracy of the receiving and data entry processes
Identify customer special needs, determine shipment method based on destination, and prioritize based on contract, reference numbers or email communications
Schedule receiving appointments for inbound freight via email or by phone
Communicates with employees in various departments as well as customers to resolve freight issues, missing freight, hazmat documentation, and other discrepancies
Verify documentation is signed off by driver and receiver
Completes final review of own work; verifies accuracy, makes changes or corrections as necessary before completing freight bill for auto or manual billing
Assists with scanning/imaging receiving documentation and resolving questions/issues that arise in the imagining system (Synergize)
Research and identify hazardous materials and enter them correctly in TMW as well as label freight correctly
May assist reweighing and measuring freight for accuracy
May consolidate loose freight onto pallets
Monitor various reports for accuracy
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent
One to two (1-2) years of experience in warehouse, dock facility, receiving department, or administrative experience
Previous transportation industry experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of computers; Hand held scanning devices and computerized warehouse management system knowledge preferred
Must have exceptional attention to detail, perform work accurately and ability to proof own work
Excellent data entry skills including speed, accuracy and thoroughness
Excellent Customer Service skills in person and on the phone
Ability to professionally serve a variety of people in a busy and fast-paced environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Must be reliable and dependable
