R&d Mechanical Engineer | Integrated Wire Mesh Manufacturing

Job Description

In this role, you'll help shape the future of our mechanical systems-from brainstorming bold new concepts to developing advanced manufacturing solutions and seeing your ideas come to life on the production floor. You'll take ownership of engineering initiatives from initial spark all the way through launch, collaborating across teams and pushing boundaries at every stage.

  • Engineer, develop, and validate mechanical systems and components to enhance performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and procurement of automated machinery and assembly tooling.
  • Create and engineer new equipment and manufacturing processes to support growth into green energy and other emerging markets.
  • Independently oversee project schedules, budgets, milestones, and overall execution.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective measures to resolve defects and quality concerns.
  • Select, assess, and qualify suitable materials and manufacturing processes for new designs.
  • Plan, perform, and document testing and validation activities for newly developed systems.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams-including production, procurement, and quality-and engage with external suppliers as needed.
  • Support quoting and proposal efforts by estimating timelines, costs, and resource requirements for new R&D initiatives.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as necessary to support project work and supplier interactions.

Solid modeling and drawing skills using SolidWorks.Machining knowledge (mill, lathe, CNC, etc.)
Required Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3-7 years of mechanical design and development experience in a manufacturing or R&D environment.
  • Project management experience (formal or informal), with the ability to coordinate resources and timelines.
  • Solid modeling and drawing skills using SolidWorks.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and engineering documentation tools.
  • Self-driven, organized, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred/Beneficial Experience:
  • Machining knowledge (mill, lathe, CNC, etc.)
  • FEA and thermal modeling experience
  • Test fixture design and material testing
  • Familiarity with machine controls (PLCs, servo/stepper motors)
  • Spanish language proficiency
  • Experience operating or programming fiber laser cutting machines (Amada preferred)
  • Experience working with materials at high temperatures and under vacuum
