Job Description

Heart & Vascular Ambulatory Surgery Center (HVASC) and Florida Heart Associates is recruiting for a PRN Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) to work 1-2 days per week in our surgery center. Qualified applicants are required to have at least three years of recent cardiac cath lab experience and demonstrate understanding of technique. This position encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, including patient care activities, scrubbing and assisting physician during procedures, assisting with X-Ray equipment, and cleaning, sterilization, and storage of store supplies, instruments, and equipment.

Located in the attractive Southwest Florida Gulf Coast area, Heart & Vascular Ambulatory Surgery Center and Florida Heart Associates operates a modern medical center dedicated to meeting the cardiac needs of Southwest Florida. We perform diagnostic cardiac testing, in addition to peripheral vascular procedures. We also support an in-house cardiac PET imaging system, stress testing, ECHO, and management of arrhythmia equipment.

EDUCATION:

Graduate of accredited two (2) year program in cardiovascular technology. Associate's Degree required.

EXPERIENCE:



3 years related experience in a cardiac cath lab preferred. Demonstrates understanding of technique

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:



Registered Radiology Technologist/ARRT and/or RCIS required ACLS and BLS certification

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:



Responsible for providing surgical scrub duties, recording hemodynamics, circulating procedures. Responsible for having all necessary supplies and x-ray equipment is ready and available for each assigned case in collaboration with the rest of the team. Ensure Cath Lab turnover is done in a timely manner and cost effectiveness and conversation are observed when opening supplies for cases. Restocks Cath Lab supplies as caseload permits and helps pull supplies for cases the following day. Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director - Invasive Lab, sets up and maintains x-ray equipment for major and minor surgical procedures applying special knowledge pertaining to radiology. Applies specialized knowledge of specialized instruments, equipment and supplies utilized in the cath lab. Organizes instruments, equipment, and supplies for easy access and maximum efficiency. Maintains communication with the Invasive Lab Executive Director or designee to ensure that any problems during the cath lab schedule or possible delays in completion of the schedule are promptly communicated. Communicates effectively with medical staff to facilitate coordination of patient care among all disciplines providing patient care services. Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good teammate relations with collaborative integration of the healthcare team. Responds promptly to changes in workload, adjusting assignments as necessary to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency. Plans all work steps to ensure success: considers time, supplies and support required from other individuals and departments in setting up work plan and completing duties. Maintains patient safety through surveillance of all practices in the Invasive Lab. Follows all safety rules while on the job. Reports all accidents and corrects minor safety hazards. Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace. Performs other duties as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned by supervising manager.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:



Requires frequent and constant judgment, leadership, and the ability to make decisions and solve problems immediately; occasionally in response to disasters or emergencies, actual events or drills. Requires English language skills for constant high-level written and interpersonal communications. Ability to work well with physicians, teammates, patients and others. Knowledge of contrast media (ionic vs. non-ionic). Knowledge of coronary artery anatomy and cardiac physiology in relation to invasive cardiac procedures. Knowledge of cardiac pharmaceuticals. Skill in pre-cath patient education. Skill in post-cath recovery. Skill in IV insertion. Skill in Foley catheter insertion. Skill in utilizing closure devices and Angio-Seal. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public. Ability to think critically. Ability to communicate clearly.
