POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Works maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing and replacing of 410 automated Stationary Infantry Targets (SIT), Enhanced Remote Target Systems (ERETS) and 225 non-automated targets. Automated Ranges responsibilities include: Inspections, tests, services, adjustments, alignments, calibrations, installation, repairs, replacements, reconditioning, troubleshooting, field-testing and/or shop testing target mechanisms and hit sensor devices. Replaces/repairs defective hardware and parts such as relays, switches, assemblies, cables, target elevating mechanisms, hydraulic cylinders, piping, valves, pumps, junction boxes, solenoids, electric motors, rectifiers, diodes, transformers, rheostats, transistors, resistors, capacitors, thermal panels and other components. Fabricates and repairs electrical power/data cables, hit sensor cable assemblies, hard-wire control power distribution/switch devices, etc. Installs and repairs muzzle flash simulators on required targets. Performs routine flatwork welding repairs to metal mechanical target mounting devices. Responsible for the programming of new range systems, coordinating and installing system upgrades and developing scopes of work (SOW) on range and target upgrades. Must attend periodic Range Technician Courses to maintain proficiency of automation systems and programs. Trains target technicians throughout the state and schedules out of state training for target technicians. On Non-Automated Ranges responsibilities include: building target frames, adding coreplast, installing targets on ranges, maintaining firing blocks, foxholes, berms, erosion control structures and developing SOW on range upgrades. On all ranges will assist in the controlled access to training facilities and perform other related functions including closing and securing the facilities as needed. Range maintenance includes applying various pesticides and herbicides to target emplacement areas and the use of electrical tools such as drills, saws, and sanders in order to maintain and provide basic repair of ranges and range equipment. Responsible for maintaining 160 Acres of total range area. Perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have 3 - 5 year heavy construction equipment repair experience. Must have or be capable of acquiring a Commercial Drivers Licenses combination. Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted, including above the shoulder. Must be capable for obtaining a LaCarte Purchase Card.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a valid Driver's License, Social Security Card and Birth Certificate.
Must be available to report to duty during emergency or disaster situations for extended hours over an extended period of time. Other periodic travel may be required.
Must meet physical requirements to perform functions of the position.
Must attend/complete all Louisiana Military Department (LMD) annual training and other training required for the position.
Must adhere to the Code of Ethics and foster a Sexual Harassment-Free Environment.
