Summary



Under the direction of the Director of Ancillary Services, performs expert diagnostic radiological imaging/mammography procedures to assure a high level of quality care and service to patients, physicians, and customers in and outside of the Radiology Department, in accordance with the philosophy, goals and objectives of Cozad Community Health System.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provides competent, safe, and effective patient care.


Reviews requests for radiologic studies, ensuring the correct exam is performed. Reviews available clinical data from chart to alert nurse/provider of any possible contraindications for procedures.


Assesses patient condition to determine proper handling, special requirements and patient's ability to comply with the physical requirements of the examination to minimize patient or exam problems.


Operates highly complex radiographic equipment within the Radiology Department, operating rooms and at patient's bedside, selecting technical factors to ensure high-quality imagines using the (ALARA) As Low As Reasonably Achievable standards.


Utilizes multiple modalities in Department (X-Ray, CT, Mammogram, Ultrasound, etc.), as allowed by state law.


Attends all required safety training programs.


Records documentation accurately and timely, including charges.


Follows the hospital exposure control, bloodborne, and airborne pathogen plans.


Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional and responsible environment.


Addresses and helps to resolve customer complaints .


Assists Director with day-to-day operations; organizing and performing quality assurance tasks; maintaining survey readiness; developing and maintaining department policies and procedures; EHR/IT troubleshooting; updating software systems; and developing and evaluating ongoing service programs.


Follows all HIPAA guidelines and promotes and ensures patient safety.


Fulfills mission statement by performing job duties with a high level of customer service while contributing to a positive and professional environment.


Special projects and other duties as assigned.



Supervisory Responsibilities



Serves as a point of contact for schedulers and clinicians. Ensures positive patient experience. Responsibilities include training employees and focusing on improving patient health outcomes. Partnering with Director of Ancillary Services to interview, hire, plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.



Qualifications

Education and/or Experience



Graduate of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology program. Proficient with the principles and practices of Radiation Technology as outlined by the State of Nebraska Health and Human Services. Understanding of X-Ray patient care procedures and medical terminology required. At least 5 years of Radiology experience required. Supervisory experience preferred.


Licensure/Certification



Current ARRT Registration


Current Nebraska Licensure in a Radiology related field


Basic Life Support (CPR)


Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred



Language Skills



Ability to read and interpret documents such as physician orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of patients or employees.



Mathematical Skills



Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.



Reasoning Ability



Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
