JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Racquets Professional


Reports to: Racquets Director


Supervises: Not a supervisory position

The Club:

Westwood Country Club is a premier family-oriented athletic club that provides a variety of quality services and activities for the recreation and dining needs of members.
The Westwood Club, established in 1955, has been owned and operated by its members since 1957. The original home that houses the Club masterfully blends the charm of early 1900's architecture, picturesque surroundings, and modern expansions to create a facility unique among Austin clubs. At the heart of the complex is the McClendon home, a medieval French mansion built in 1925 by Judge and Mrs. James W. McClendon. Its flagstone walkways, Mexican tile floors, hand painted ceilings, and native rock fireplace offer ambiance to special events.

Job Summary:




Assist with organization and direction of all club racquets activities, events, tournaments, and lessons. Professional appearance. Prompt and courteous service to members and guests. Adherence to club policies. Maintain safe procedures while teaching and coordinating events.

Members, staff, guests, vendors, and children

Position Summary:





Provides tennis lessons for individuals and group tennis instructions for Club members and guests. Teaches, offers advice and tips to players at all levels and ages, from beginners to those at advanced stages. This is an hourly, non-exempt, commissioned position; requires flexible schedule.

Essential Job Functions:

Assists with organization and direction of all club racquets activities, events, exhibitions, trips, tournaments, and lesson programs. Professional appearance, prompt and courteous service to members and guests. Adherence to club policies. Maintain safe procedures while teaching and coordinating events. Develop and promote all aspects of Westwood Country Club. Bill members in a timely manner. Continuously be creative and create opportunities and experiences, a member must participate in the racquets program. Assist in teaching tennis and pickleball for club programs, clinics, and camps. Communication and correspondence with members for all racquets programming. Continuing to develop the racquets program through training using instructional seminars/courses and the passing-on experience and knowledge. Contributes racquets related news and pictures for club newsletter. Assists in racquets shop sales and merchandising. Answers incoming calls to tennis shop if needed. Ensures that all club members and guests receive courteous, prompt, and professional attention to all their racquets needs. Markets our racquets facilities to members and guests. Attends all staff meetings. Inspects and maintains all physical areas constantly for cleanliness. Prepare promotional materials for members. Current USTA Safe-Play certified, or willingness to complete as a pre-condition of employment. Demonstrated participation in accredited Continuing Education programs. Performs all work-related duties as assigned by The Director of Racquets and the leadership team of Westwood Country Club.

Physical Demands:





This position requires athleticism and involves standing, walking, running, twisting/turning, kneeling/squatting, reaching, bending/stooping, swinging a tennis racquet, climbing stairs, and lifting at least 50 pounds regularly. Job involves playing tennis when required and must be able to work in varied weather conditions, such as heat/cold/wind, etc. and for extended periods of time.

Education and/or Experience:



USPTA or PTR Certified Professional achieved or in progress preferred.


Participation in accredited Continuing Education programs.
