Quality Manager | Adhesive Manufacturing

Job Description

Our client, a leading manufacturer of adhesive films and laminates, is seeking a Quality Manager to lead the quality department and oversee the continuous improvement of their ISO 9001 Quality Management System. The position is primarily based at their North Chicago facility, with occasional work (one to two days per week) required at their Ringwood, IL location.

  • Manage Quality Assurance Technicians to support company-wide production operations.
  • Oversee ISO 9001 QMS activities, including documentation, implementation, audits, and management review
  • Use Key Process Indicators (KPIs) and internal audits to identify improvement areas through root cause analysis and permanent corrective actions.
  • Track, analyze, and report Quality KPIs to management.
  • Maintain and coordinate documentation and audits for third-party certifications (UL, MED, FM, NEMO).
  • Develop and deliver employee training to meet quality and process improvement goals.
  • Support Product Development and Manufacturing teams to establish and maintain product and process specifications.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Customer Support to resolve product performance and tolerance inquiries.
  • Lead the Customer Complaint process, including validation, reporting, and resolution with Sales, Manufacturing, suppliers, and customers.
  • Develop and maintain testing procedures and documentation for incoming, in-process, and final inspection.
  • Lead the Nonconforming Material process across all production levels.
  • Manage supplier-related nonconforming material, including documentation, containment, corrective action, and verification of effectiveness.
  • Coordinate RMAs and debit memos for produced and purchased materials.
  • Lead the Material Review Board (MRB) to disposition quarantined and returned materials.
  • Maintain Corrective Action Records (CARs), oversee implementation, and monitor effectiveness.
  • Complete control plans, PPAP, FMEA, First Article Inspection (FAI), and gauge R&R as required.
  • Implement supplier incoming quality and performance requirements.
  • Manage test equipment control and calibration programs.
  • Oversee the company's Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) program, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Lead Safety Committee meetings and coordinate responses to OSHA or other regulatory inspections.
  • Manage safety audits and maintain current safety documentation and procedures.
  • Coordinate required safety training, including new hire orientation and recurring sessions.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement focused on quality, efficiency, safety, and communication.
  • Travel as needed between production facilities, with limited travel to suppliers, service providers, and customers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's Degree (Engineering-related preferred)
  • 5+ years of ISO 9001 QMS experience
  • Exposure to documentation such as PPAPs and FMEAs
  • Experience leading internal and external audits
  • Proven track record of problem-solving with root cause analysis
  • Understanding EHS policies and procedures
  • Background in PSA coating or printing is preferred
  • Understanding of TS/IATF 16949 is a plus
