A leading aerospace and RF/microwave technology manufacturer in the Hauppauge region is hiring a
Sr. Specialist, Quality Engineering
to support and strengthen its AS9100 Quality Management System. This person will work across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Production, and Customer Service to maintain compliance, lead audits, resolve nonconformances, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced engineering environment, enjoys solving complex problems, and can confidently interface with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Support and maintain the AS9100 Quality Management System
Lead and participate in daily cross-functional quality issue resolution
Analyze data, assess processes, and implement continuous improvement initiatives
Report quality metrics, trends, and findings to the Quality Manager
Perform root cause analysis using 5-Why and Fishbone methods
Drive corrective and preventive actions: CARs, SCARs, customer complaints, failure reports
Lead Material Review Board (MRB) activities
Conduct AS9102 First Article Inspections
Guide external audits, support customer source inspections, and complete FAI documentation
Serve as primary contact for customer and supplier quality matters
Lead supplier evaluations, audits, and corrective action follow-up
Conduct internal audits and coordinate cross-functional corrective actions
Create, document, and improve QMS procedures and work instructions
Support AS9100 training, internal/external audits, and compliance activities
Use dimensional measurement tools (OGP, handheld gauges, etc.)
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
6+ years of quality engineering experience (or 4+ with a Master's)
Strong AS9100 background
Experience with microelectronics, RF/MW products, or precision electromechanical systems
Ability to read mechanical blueprints and understand tolerances
Experience with Mil-Std-883, IPC-A-610, J-STD-001
AS9102 FAI experience
Strong communication skills with customer and executive interaction
Experience supporting DCMA or government quality audits
Ability to perform contract flow-down interpretation
Proven experience maintaining or building an AS9100 QMS
Preferred Skills
Lean Six Sigma training or certification
Ability to obtain/maintain DoD Secret clearance
Supplier quality audit experience
Strong problem-solving mindset and data-driven approach
