Systecon is seeking a Quality Control / PLC Technician to help us test our hydronic systems and controls, so that they fulfill our internal quality control requirements. To achieve these results, our technicians use software, measurement tools, meters, hand tools, and task-specific measurement on components and systems to ensure they meet the quality standards used in our production process, and that the complete systems meet specifications and design intent.
Quality Control / PLC Technician Duties and Responsibilities
Reading, interpreting, and understanding mechanical and electrical engineering drawings
Perform quality control tests on incomplete or sub- systems as necessary, then test the complete system. Includes electrical, control, and in-house test stand flow and operational tests
Verification and testing of mechanical, electrical, and digital control components. Typically requires the use of DDC/PLC controls and VFD software; measurement tools; electrical multimeters; to ensure product specifications and design intent are met
Ensure testing and measurement equipment is operating accurately by following calibration and certification requirements, usually by sending out to third-party entity. Each item is logged on a procedural document
Participate in troubleshooting, physical adjustment, and/or minor repairs of tested hydronic systems
Log non-conformance issues as they are discovered, and track when root cause analysis action is required
Verify quality control tasks via specific line-items on comprehensive department checklist
Handle field service calls when necessary
Quality Control and Assurance Technician Requirements and Qualifications
Two-year technical degree plus two years related experience required
Experience in a manufacturing and/or field service environment preferred
Big Plus: In-depth knowledge of HVAC equipment and hydronic equipment (pumps, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, VFD's, manual and actuated valves, transmitters); and PLC/DDC/Comparable Control programming and troubleshooting experience
Attention to detail, both at individual component level and final-build stage
Must be able to understand electrical one-line schematics and mechanical P&ID
Ability to safely use small hand and power tools
Excellent communication and computer skills
