Quality Control Lead Technician / Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Lead Technician / Manager to operate and manage our quality control program for aggregates, asphalt, and concrete. This is a hands-on, working role responsible for day-to-day field and laboratory testing while also maintaining QC documentation, compliance, and coordination with operations and agencies.

This position functions primarily as a one-person QC program, with occasional oversight or assistance from an additional technician as workload requires.

Key Responsibilities

Perform routine field and laboratory testing for aggregates, asphalt, and concrete Ensure materials meet project specifications, mix designs, and agency requirements Maintain, review, and submit QC documentation, test results, certifications, and reports Coordinate directly with production to identify and correct quality issues Manage laboratory operations, testing procedures, and equipment calibration Assist with aggregate gradations, concrete mix designs, asphalt mix designs, and production monitoring Investigate non-conforming materials and implement corrective actions Provide limited direction or oversight to an additional QC technician when needed Support project closeout documentation and resolution of quality-related issues

Qualifications

Preferred 5+ years of hands-on quality control experience in aggregates, asphalt, and concrete Strong working knowledge of standard field and laboratory testing procedures Experience on DOT and/or FAA projects preferred Ability to work independently and manage a QC program with minimal supervision Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills Effective communicator with operators, inspectors, and management

Preferred Certifications

ACI Concrete Field Testing and/or Strength Testing DOT or agency QC/QA certifications Asphalt testing and mix design certifications Aggregate testing certifications Nuclear gauge certification (or ability to obtain)

Compensation & Benefits

Position may be structured as hourly (with overtime) or salaried, depending on experience and qualifications Target compensation equivalent to $70,000 - $90,000 annually Health insurance benefits with affordable dependent coverage through Section 125 deduction 401k with employer match of up to 4% and annual potential profit-sharing contribution Typical annual bonus of between 5-10% of annual compensation depending on individual performance and overall company performance Paid time off and holidays Company vehicle provided Stable, long-term opportunity with a well-established company
