Job Summary:
The
Quality Assurance Supervisor
is responsible for ensuring the timely and effective implementation of all company policies, procedures, and activities to ensure the quality of manufactured products. Maintains close working relationships with other department managers and supervisory personnel to meet and maintain product quality. Identify, solve, and prevent problems affecting product quality, maximize productivity, and comply with regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
A
Quality Assurance Supervisor
is expected to perform the following essential job functions based on the business assignment (detailed):
Responsible party in supporting the food safety culture of the company.
Supervise and direct quality assurance technicians who are responsible for enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices and other quality-related policies to meet product quality standards.
Ensure good performance from quality assurance technicians by mentoring, training, setting expectations, providing accountability, and performing evaluations.
Perform and review Root Cause Analysis for Food Safety and Package Quality deviations, process Non-Conformances from investigation, customer communication, plant notification and closeout.
Monitor and release hold products as required.
Perform monthly GMP audits and follow up with Corrective Actions from the audit findings.
Review and perform trend analysis of pre-operational cleaning, production, and postproduction.
Review daily production, QC, and sanitation paperwork. Including daily shift reports.
Review and signs off on all inbound paperwork to ensure standards are recorded and COAs are attached where applicable.
Perform monthly environmental testing for the facility.
Monitor sanitation efficacy and trends. Liaise with chemical companies and make suggestions for improving the sanitation process.
Monitor the daily activities of the quality team and provide input and feedback to enhance their abilities.
Direct the internal and outsourced laboratory work as needed.
Perform annual training with QC technicians and production crew.
Creates and maintains weekly Quality staff schedule.
Spot check weights and metal detectors to verify proper packing and safety of products.
Engage with Operation Team Leaders; perform daily inspections of the production floor.
Act as liaison between departments; proactively establish relationships between departments to support the quality and safety of the product.
Provide floor coverage for the Quality Technicians as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills / Abilities / Qualifications:
Motivate, lead, gather, and understand information provided by all levels of workers.
Positive attitude, work ethic, and organizational skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management and coworkers.
Must be proficient in English and/or Spanish.
Strong understanding of food sanitation, food safety, worker safety, and cost development.
Ability to take direction from superiors and perform tasks without constant direct supervision.
Demonstrated ability to improve processes and develop them into more efficient and valuable parts of the overall operation.
Able to multi-task in a fast-paced production environment.
Able to work on foot for extended periods of time.
HACCP Certification
GFSI Familiar
PCQI certified or able to acquire within two weeks of hire.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises 3 to 6 employees in the Quality and Compliance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; supervising the time clock system and managing and confirming the most accurate information.
Education and/or Experience:
Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or one-year to two-years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prior experience as Quality Lead, or Quality Supervisor.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have advanced skills with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand and frequently required to walk; use hands to handle, feel, or manipulate objects; reach with hands and arms; and communicate effectively. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee will regularly work in environments that may be wet and/or humid and involve exposure to moving mechanical parts. Some areas within the facility may experience extreme temperatures, ranging from very hot to very cold conditions. The noise level in the work environment ranges from moderate to high, and hearing protection may be required in designated areas

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
