Federal Foam Technologies, a leader in foam fabrication, is looking for a Quality Assurance Manager to join our team in Northwood, Iowa.
Summary:
Develops, implements and coordinates the FFT Quality Assurance Program in support of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System, corporate objective and customer requirements. This position serves as the quality assurance liaison between Federal Foam Technologies, our internal organization, our suppliers, customers and /or outside quality organizations. The Quality Assurance Manager is a valuable individual within the organization as they are a key component of ensuring quality product is being produced on a daily basis.
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for interviewing, hiring and training of employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Job Responsibilities:
Act as the facilities' responsible leader for implementation and continuous improvement of the latest released ISO 9000 Quality Management System Standard. Works to assure that the QMS is successfully deployed across the facility and recognized/certified by a third-party registrar on an ongoing basis.
Act as the leader for assembling the Management Review of the Quality Management System.
Act as the champion for the quality metric in the Measurable Objectives through strong communication of performance level and rallying needed resources to take needed actions to achieve this objective.
Develops quality assurance program to define responsibilities for quality staff, personnel requirements, and operational procedures within the QMS.
Establishes an effective product quality management process within the production operation to assess quality requirements for customer's products are being met.
Create, review and approve receiving inspection, in-process inspection, and final inspection plans, procedures, instructions, and other quality records as needed.
Lead the effort to provide timely and effective responses to customer questions, concerns, or rejections of product.
Prepare fiscal budget for the Quality function.
In conjunction with the Supply Chain Manager, make visits as needed by circumstances, to material and component vendors to obtain information related to supply quality, vendor quality standards, and capability of vendors to meet quality expectations.
Develop solutions to problems identified during quality assurance activities.
Track and report on all outstanding audit issues and corrective action requests (CARs).
Review and assure that corrective actions are effective with true root cause identified and eliminated or sufficiently controlled to protect the customer
Consult on intra- and inter-divisional QA/QC issues.
Assist in directing and training cross-functional continuous improvement teams.
Act as the QA representative in the Quote Process Review and Production Process Review meetings.
Visit and confer with potential and new customers to obtain information regarding quality requirements and standards as they pertain to these customers.
Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements and facilitates necessary changes.
Select the appropriate laboratory to complete required tests of materials as needed. Monitor, specify and review material lab test results.
Review and approve the use of statistical techniques to track and control QA/QC processes.
Provide "Cost of Quality" summaries for management review.
Review and approve audit corrective action closure.
Review and approve all external audit plans and schedules.
Initiate and review corrective actions as deemed necessary to support FFT ISO-9001 registration.
Assists in developing quality plans.
Review and approve all "new" suppliers of material or services to FFT.
Actively offer assistance to others in pursuit of QMS certification programs.
Create and upload reports for external customers using their web link software or websites.
Ensure that quality assurance equipment and other required equipment is calibrated as required.
Coordinate MRB activity.
Coordinate and participate in all Quality Audits as the Quality Assurance Manager and QMS Representative.
Checks or verifies product to customer standard, measures product and performs Initial Sample Inspection Report.
Works with Purchasing on vendors issues that have an impact on the quality of product.
Enter DMR's into the ERP System and provide feedback to the organization.
Create Cost of Quality Reports.
Plan, direct and ensure the workload for Quality Assurance Technicians is met according to business needs.
Ensure that Quality Assurance Technicians are properly trained to perform the requirements of their job.
Prepare and deliver performance reviews, performance matrices and disciplinary documents as needed within area of responsibility.
Promote a positive and safe environment.

Job Requirements:
Strong communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating flexibility, commitment to teamwork, and a willingness to change assignments and work overtime to meet customer needs.
Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University, and a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CMM experience (preferably with a FARO portable unit), part staging concepts and techniques, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, root cause analysis, quality system auditing experience, and effective negotiation skills required.
Experience with and ability to with Blueprint Reading, Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Root Cause Analysis techniques required.
Experience with and the ability to perform PPAP's, ISIR's, PFMEA and 8D CAR preferred.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical information in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Must be able to supervise, provide leadership, plan, assign, and direct work; complete performance reviews; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems, and assure compliance to quality management system standards.
Must have good computer knowledge and background with experience in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and Mircrosoft PowerPoint.
Current valid driver's license is required.
