Current Opportunities & Responsibilities



The duties and qualifications below apply to both the

QP

and

QMP

roles, with the QMP role typically requiring greater technical depth, qualification, and independent execution of tasks.

Core Responsibilities



Successful candidates will perform a variety of essential rail maintenance duties, including:

Inspection and Repair:

Performing train set inspections and repair as well as the Daily / Periodic inspections outlined in CFR 238.

Maintenance & Service:

Having trains ready for revenue service (Monday through Sunday), providing maintenance for Special trains, and performing running and medium repairs while locomotives/cars are in line.

Heavy Repair:

Completing heavy repairs as required by Supervisors and Management.

Technical Operations:

Placing and removing train sets from 480 volt wayside power.

Reporting:

Keeping Supervisor and Management informed daily on train and equipment status.

Qualifications:

Maintaining QP/QMP qualification as outlined in CFR 238.

Key Skills and Backgrounds



While two years of railroad experience is a plus, we are looking for candidates with strong foundational skills:

Mechanical Experience

(Required)

Troubleshooting:

Ability to read, understand, and troubleshoot electrical problems and diagnose/troubleshoot Pneumatic brake and air problems.

Specialized Skills (A Plus):

Electrical background, Diesel engine mechanical background (EMD and Caterpillar), Welding, and HVAC Certification.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment



These are hands-on mechanical positions that require physical ability and flexibility:

Physical Ability:

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and stairs daily, and work at heights (approximately 20 feet).

Stamina:

Must be able to work on your feet for long periods, walk long distances on ballast, and crawl, ascent, and descent locomotives and cars.

Work Schedule:

Must have the ability to work any shift or all shifts and be willing to work overtime as needed.

Other:

Must possess a valid driver's license and have good vision and hearing (normal or corrected).
