PCD Collective manages several statewide business and retail associations in Maine, including the Retail Association of Maine, Maine Grocers and Food Producers, Maine Pharmacy Association, and Maine Society of Health System Pharmacists.

Join our dynamic team as a Public Policy and Government Affairs Student Intern, where you will gain invaluable experience in shaping public policy, engaging with government stakeholders, and advancing organizational advocacy efforts. This paid internship offers a unique opportunity to develop strategic communication skills, understand legislative processes, and contribute to impactful initiatives that influence public policy decisions. You will work closely with experienced professionals to monitor legislation, understand the state legislative process, and research current and future bills. Your energetic approach and passion for public affairs will help drive meaningful change while building your professional portfolio.

We are seeking a motivated intern to assist with legislative and regulatory advocacy, research, and public policy projects. This internship will provide an inside look at how business associations influence state policy and how laws that affect retailers, grocers, and other industries are developed.

Responsibilities:

Conduct background research on legislative issues, hearings, and pending bills. Track committee schedules and assist with policy summaries or talking points. Support the development of testimony, policy briefs, and communications to members. Attend (or observe) legislative sessions, hearings, or meetings with policymakers. Learn how associations advocate for their members and help shape public policy.
Qualifications:

Preferred college majors in political science, communications, business, or public policy. However, highly motivated high school students with strong writing and research skills are also encouraged to apply. Interest in government, advocacy, or public policy. Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team.

Pay: $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 - 25 per week
