Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a Psychologist/Campus Mental Health Specialist for the Rutgers Newark Counseling Center. Reporting to the Director of the Counseling Center, this position provides individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and workshops/outreach/consultation for students, faculty, and staff. Issues addressed in counseling may include depression, anxiety, substance abuse, adjustment disorders, personality disorders Additionally, this role requires a strong commitment to presenting psychological perspectives in programs, training, and settings throughout the college community, as well as facilitating support for various campus-based partners and collaborating with the Counseling Center team to strengthen and grow services and programs.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:Provides individual and group counseling, campus crisis intervention, and workshops/outreach/consultation for students, faculty, and staff
Provides supervision to staff, including embedded counselors, student workers, and support staff
Proactively offers psychoeducational opportunities for students, as a complementary support to services offered at the Counseling Center
Provides support group opportunities for students, with a focus on salient themes that apply to students in specific spaces (e.g. academic departments, dormitories, student organizations, etc)
Coordinates and leads team efforts to support after-hour/on-call crisis response and campus based activies as needed
Develops and maintains strong relationships with campus partners and seeks to enhance community knowledge through outreach, training, and education for students, faculty, and staff, which may require flexibility to accommodate off-hours events
Supports the daily administration of the center and all clinical services, including the development and organization of the center's training program, and participation of RUN CC in adjunct clinical and research programs
Serves on unit and university committees as appointed and assigned

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an accredited program with interest and background working in a diverse, multi-disciplinary setting treating a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, adjustment disorders, personality disorders, and trauma
Certifications/Licenses
Minimum qualifications include licensure/eligibility for NJ licensure as a Psychologist, Counselor, Social Worker or related field
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrated training and employment experience in providing psychological assessment, diagnosis, and mental health treatment as well as providing time-limited individual and group therapy, on-call crisis intervention, supervision, and specialized skills or strong interest in one or more of the following areas: multicultural issues; LGBTQ health; post-traumatic stress (including sexual abuse, sexual assault); substance abuse; eating disorders.
Must have experience providing time-limited interventions.
Must have advanced knowledge of the assessment, intervention, and treatment of a wide range of psychological diagnoses in order to provide excellent mental health care to our student community.
Interest and expertise in working with diverse populations and providing clinical supervision, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include experience in a university counseling center and/or working with young adults
Expertise in one of the following areas: Trauma-informed care, multicultural competence, LGBTQ, Addictions, and/or time-limited treatment models
Proven success working collaboratively on a multidisciplinary team
Experience in a university counseling center and/or working with young adults
