The Department of Human Services (DHS), Torrance State Hospital, is actively recruiting a Psychological Services Specialist (PSS) to add to an awesome team. The ideal candidate is a master\'s level clinician who is willing to provide psychological services to individuals within an in-patient psychiatric hospital setting.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a PSS, you contribute psychological information regarding patients to professional and non-professional staff to ensure that appropriate treatment and discharge plans are formulated. In addition, you provide psychological profiles of patients to their treatment team by completing psychological evaluations as needed in order that treatment team decisions and goals for patients are objectively based.

Additional duties in this position include maintaining current psychological assessments on identified patients by completing routine screening assessments within ten working days of admission and by reviewing the assessments at least annually, in order to provide the psychological data necessary prior to the development of each patient\'s treatment plan. You apply psychological principles of intervention in direct care treatment and rehabilitation of patients by scheduled individual and/or group work, by intervening in crisis situations, and by unscheduled counseling sessions in order that patient development is promoted.

Work hours and additional information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week.
  • Work hours: 8:00am-4:00pm, Thursday to Monday (Tuesday & Wednesday are regular days off); 30-minute lunch.
  • May change based on operational needs.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of professional direct service experience in the field of psychology under the direct supervision of a licensed clinical professional, and a master\'s degree in psychology, counseling, or social work, which includes fifteen credits in psychology.
