The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Psychiatric Nurses provide professional nursing care to individuals with developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or social, emotional and/or behavioral disorders, in an institution or out-patient setting in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. The Division of Public and Behavioral Health: Rural Clinics (RC) has an opening for a half time Psychiatric Nurse 2 in Hawthorne or Yerington. This position provides direct psychiatric nursing services for consumers, including assessments and therapeutic interventions; organizing and overseeing medication services including tele-medication services for prescribers; providing client and family education on medications and health related issues; monitoring effectiveness of treatment and side effects; providing consultation and education to consumers, the community, and other service providers.
Rural Clinics provides an array of outpatient behavioral health services for both adults and children in 16 clinics which are located in 12 counties across Rural Nevada. Services are generally provided Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Services assist individuals to achieve self-sufficiency and recovery and follow Agency protocols and reimbursement guidelines. We provide an excellent benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision insurance, participation in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), both sick and annual leave, and paid holidays. Rural Clinics provides ongoing training including release time to attend training not Agency-sponsored. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and two years of professional nursing experience, one of which included working in a facility or institution with individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities; OR one year of experience as a Psychiatric Nurse I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.


Special Notes

A Bachelor's degree in nursing is equivalent to a diploma or Associate's degree in nursing and one year of experience.


Out of state applicants must have a temporary license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing at the time of appointment and must obtain permanent licensure as a Registered Nurse issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing as a condition of continuing employment.
