Personal Support Specialist (PSS) - In-Home Health Care

Position Summary:

The Personal Support Specialist (PSS) provides compassionate, non-medical care and support to clients in their homes. The PSS helps individuals maintain independence, safety, and comfort by assisting with personal care, activities of daily living, and light household tasks -- all while promoting dignity, respect, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist clients with personal care needs, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting. Provide mobility assistance, transfers, and help with walking or positioning as needed. Support daily living activities such as meal preparation, feeding assistance, and light housekeeping. Offer companionship, emotional support, and encouragement to foster independence. Remind clients to take prescribed medications (as directed, non-administration). Observe and report any changes in the client's physical or emotional condition to the supervising nurse or care coordinator. Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable home environment. Follow individualized care plans and agency policies at all times. Respect client privacy and uphold professional boundaries. Document all services provided accurately and promptly.

Qualifications:

Completion of a state-approved Personal Support Specialist (PSS) training program or equivalent. Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Compassionate, dependable, and patient with a strong commitment to quality care. Good communication, observation, and time-management skills. Ability to work independently in clients' homes and follow care plans. Reliable transportation and valid driver's license (as required by client needs).

Work Environment:

Work performed in clients' private homes within the community. Physical activity may include lifting, bending, and assisting with mobility.
