Job Description

Key Responsibilities



Coverage Review:

Evaluate first notice of loss and policy information to confirm coverage; draft disclaimers and reservation of rights letters as needed.

Comprehensive Investigation:

Conduct thorough investigations, including liability and damages assessments, witness interviews, scene inspections, and evidence collection.

Independent Adjuster Management:

Retain, direct, and oversee independent adjusters throughout the investigative process.

Liability Analysis:

Apply statutory and case law to assess liability exposure and ensure joint tortfeasors contribute appropriately.

Reserve Management:

Maintain accurate, timely reserves that reflect evolving liability and damages.

File Management:

Proactively manage claim files; negotiate settlements with claimants or attorneys; oversee defense counsel; and ensure effective litigation strategy and execution.

Reporting:

Prepare detailed reserve authority requests, reinsurance reports, serious loss reports, and coverage position letters.

Cross-Team Collaboration:

Share updates and work closely with underwriting, compliance, and actuarial teams to support strong product performance.

Qualifications



2+ years of relevant experience for

Associate Claims Examiner

7+ years of relevant experience for

Claims Examiner

Experience handling first-party property claims as an examiner, adjuster, paralegal, attorney, or in a comparable role

Preferred:

Experience with excess liability claims

Additional Plus:

Multi-jurisdictional knowledge, advanced degrees, or a JD
Expected hours: 35 per week
