Job Description


Job Summary: The Development Intern will provide assistance in the pre-development process for the proposed Battle Creek Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) development. The primary focus will be on compiling project funding application materials for Affordable Housing Program (AHP) and Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) applications.

Duties & Responsibilities:

\xc2\xb7 Assemble funding application materials, including financial models, project narratives, third-party studies, operations plans, and more.

\xc2\xb7 Manage application checklists and timelines to ensure complete and timely submissions.

\xc2\xb7 Assist with government applications, including zoning and planning applications, requests for real estate tax relief, and other items for City Council and city staff.

\xc2\xb7 Participate in meetings with project partners related to social service planning, community engagement, and other project processes; assist with scheduling and note-taking for these meetings.

\xc2\xb7 Engage with funding agencies and partners to ensure on-time delivery of materials for project applications.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

\xc2\xb7 Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

\xc2\xb7 Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

\xc2\xb7 Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

\xc2\xb7 Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

\xc2\xb7 Basic understanding of real estate development and funding processes is a plus.

Education & Experience:

\xc2\xb7 High School Diploma or GED required and currently pursuing a degree in a relevant field.

\xc2\xb7 Previous experience or coursework in real estate development or affordable housing is preferred.

\xc2\xb7 Familiarity with funding applications and government processes is a plus.

\xc2\xb7 Must have a valid driver\'s license, insurance, maintain a clean driving record, and be able to travel as needed.

Physical Demands:

\xc2\xb7 Long periods of computer work, communication via phone and email, and extensive record keeping.

\xc2\xb7 Mobility within the building to collaborate with different departments.

\xc2\xb7 Frequent operation of buttons and controls, reaching, and grasping.

\xc2\xb7 Occasional lifting and/or moving objects up to 20 pounds.

\xc2\xb7 Visual abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and adjusting focus.

\xc2\xb7 Occasional travel to different locations.
