Job Summary

The Longitudinal Study of Health and Ageing in Kenya (LOSHAK) is a multidisciplinary study that aims to collect data on health and economic wellbeing in later-life in Kenya. LOSHAK is a collaboration between the University of Michigan and Aga Khan University-Nairobi. The NIH-funded project will collect multimodal data (surveys, biomarkers, wearables, etc.) from more than 8,000 older Kenyans, covering physical, psychosocial, cognitive, and economic wellbeing. LOSHAK is part of large global networks of harmonized studies on late-life health and economic wellbeing, including the Health and Retirement Studies Around the World Network and the Harmonized Cognitive Protocol Assessment Network).
Working under the supervision of the UM LOSHAK Principal Investigator, this individual will lead efforts to design, develop, and execute LOSHAK's scientific aims from the outset of the project, and will therefore play a critical role by managing cross-disciplinary collaborations and fostering partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

20% Strategic Project Management
Serve as a central point of contact for project status updates, reporting, and communications with internal and external stakeholders
Track project milestones, deliverables, and risks, escalating issues as needed to ensure timely and successful outcomes
40% Project Coordination & Support
Facilitate project kick-off meetings to align teams around clear timelines, roles, deliverables, and expectations
Manage complex scheduling and logistics for meetings and workshops
30% Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership Building
Act as a relationship manager for cross-institutional and external partners, cultivating trust and long-term collaboration
Consult with faculty, researchers, and administrative staff to define project needs, goals, and success metrics
Represent the project in meetings, sharing updates, gathering feedback and advocating for project priorities
10% Operational Support
Support budgeting, purchasing, and expense tracking processes in collaboration with administrative and financial staff
Recommend and implement process improvements that contribute to team efficiency and organizational impact
Serve as a primary contact for project updates, reporting, and stakeholder communications
Required Qualifications

Master's degree in public health, public policy, business, or other related field, with at least five (5) years of professional project management experience
Outstanding organizational skills and demonstrated ability to effectively manage numerous projects simultaneously at various stages of development, with a high attention to detail
Ability to analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and make independent decisions on matters of significance within the scope of job responsibilities, without immediate direction; demonstrated ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
Demonstrated integrity, strong initiative, problem-solving skills, be highly reliable, retain a sense of ownership and accountability for workload, be flexible and resilient, provide excellent customer service, and possess expert follow-up skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with and build professional relationships across all organizational levels; demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
Proficient computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe PDF, survey platforms (e.g., Qualtrics and Google Forms), and Zoom
