The Project Manager (PM) role, reporting to the Director of Construction, monitors every phase of a construction project (up to $20M) from inception to occupancy, primarily in the health care environment.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the design, construction and renovation of construction projects throughout the medical facilities. Develops and maintains project cost reports and schedules. Prepares construction status reports and monitors and updates construction schedules. Coordinates and ensures the smooth operation of all relocation and renovation projects.
  • Negotiates and administers the bidding and awarding of contracts with vendors and suppliers. Conducts financial analyses and prepares reports estimating the cost of construction projects and renovations. Identifies and resolves all budget problems with construction and renovation. Manages purchase orders, makes necessary changes. Reviews and recommends approval of invoice payments.
  • Coordinates with architect and engineering consultants to assure the optimal functioning of building systems and designs. Reviews drawings and contracts and provides input, recommendations and approval of same.
  • Coordinates with contractors, end-users, and any other relevant department throughout the duration of the project to insure optimal operations are maintained.
  • Evaluates, identifies and implements new ideas, technologies or process improvements to increase organizational efficiencies and cost savings.
  • Monitors and implements the Mount Sinai Medical Center\xe2\x80\x99s quality control program. Monitors construction of work ensuring that timetable is maintained and that work conforms to design and operational standards and requirements. Reviews and consults with architects and engineers regarding safety issues on new projects.
  • Monitors the preparation of all drawings and specifications to ensure standards are met. Leads constructability reviews.
  • Coordinates and implements relocation plans of departments, programs, staff, patients, etc.
  • Develops space programs, design fit plans to meet the needs of user departments
  • Coordinates the activities of outside architectural and engineering design consultants
  • Manages the A/E team and be the liaison between the consultants and user groups.
  • Ensures that the A/E team is meeting all regulatory requirements and that the budget and schedule are adhered to.
  • Monitors the progress of construction relative to schedule, cost and quality. Effectively monitors contractors safety management program including PPE, ILSMs and ICRA
  • Effectively monitors activities of construction schedule as the Owner\xe2\x80\x99s representative.
  • Minimizes the disruption to hospital patients, staff and service due to construction
  • Reviews bid documents, drawings and coordinates pre-bid activities
  • Conducts periodic project management meetings with architectural and engineering consultant, contractors, subcontractors and user clients
  • Makes timely decisions in the field as unexpected conditions arise. Monitors contractor\xe2\x80\x99s compliance with plans, specifications and applicable codes
  • Reviews and approves applications for payment, change orders and purchase requisitions.
  • Schedules shut downs, tie-ins and in-house activities with Engineering
  • Coordinates with Procurement for the purchase of furniture and equipment
  • Coordinates and schedules work with other departments. Coordinates move-in activities with user departments move coordinators
  • Maintains complete project files through project close out. Informs supervisor of status and issues of construction projects
  • Examines construction work, reports findings, follows up with corrective work and prepares and monitors punch lists
  • Responsible for managing costs to budget using standardized finance report
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree
  • 5+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience with emphasis on health care design and construction. Should have the capabilities to run a construction project, if required. AutoCAD experience a plus.
  • None as requirement, but a valid NYS architecture registration or professional engineering license is a plus.
  • Comfortable with the use of Word, Excel (preparation of spread sheets), Microsoft Project, Power Point. Should be able to produce spreadsheets, word documents and reports with ease.

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $96,461.00 - $144,692.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
