We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Project Manager, Non-Ferrous, to lead and coordinate complex projects within the non-ferrous metals sector. The following are core competencies of this role:
Strategist - Develop costing, new design and installation strategies that allow Wahl to be recognized as the leader in Precast Furnace relines.
Leader - Lead the Site Manager, Operations and Engineering teams by effectively communicating project execution and bidding strategies as they apply to their individual roles.
Communicator - Communicate with Market Director, District Sales Managers, R&D, Inside Sales, Quality, and Engineering on a regular basis ensuring that they understand aspects of projects as they relate to their individual departments
Evaluator - Analyze Profit and Loss on projects to refine costing and maximize profit on future projects while remaining competitive in the market.
Relationship Builder - Develops, maintains, and improves business relations with customers through well planned execution of projects.
The following is an outline of the basic duties and responsibilities of the above-titled position. Responsibilities
Ensure all safety and quality requirements are met.
Responsible for costing and execution of project and furnace relines.
Research and develop installation strategies and plans that will improve timelines and reduce costs.
Work with unions to obtain the proper individuals to execute the work needed on projects
Analyze and evaluate the pre-contract costing. Ensure future modifications are completed to minimize risk and exposure on future projects
Organize procurement strategies on large projects to lower costs.
Complete prequalification packages, including safety qualifications, terms and conditions.
Investigates and resolves customer problems.
Work as a part of other Fosbel divisions when workload is light.
Review all project invoices prior to submitting to customer
Special Projects as assigned.
Expectations
Adhere to all WRS and Customer Health and Safety Policies. Lead by example and understand those around you can and will affect your safety.
Review monthly the Project pipeline to understand timing of upcoming projects based on discussions with District Sales Managers.
Coordinate with Engineering to ensure the design for furnaces are fit for application, while minimizing the total installed cost.
Review and approve all project drawings, terms, purchase orders
Develop and maintain project schedule which includes buying schedules, cost trackers, and installation schedule.
Coordinate with other departments to create and revise project procedures as needed.
Make project related site visits with each District Sales Manager at minimum of 1 time per quarter.
Work with District Sales Managers, Plant Managers, Engineering Managers and Market Managers to formulate project strategies to ensure success.
Develop cost sheets (including third party estimates) and quotes for projects.
Lead all project related meetings including lessons learned roundtable following each project.
Qualifications
Minimum of ten (10) years in managing successful projects in the steel and/or aluminum industry, including the RFQ process.
Refractory experience required.
Purchasing experience required with knowledge of purchasing raw materials used in steel and/or aluminum industry. Previously developed supplier relationships are beneficial. Experience with purchase orders, change orders, and receivables required.
Previous responsibility managing Profit & Loss (P&L) on projects. Experience preparing budgets and reporting results in written and oral form.
Safety and Health compliance required. The ability to maintain a safe worksite is key to our success. Demonstrated experience required.
Experience dealing with contractors, unions, vendors and third parties while managing a job site required.
Previous experience drafting written work procedures and providing training/mentoring on the job site.
Strong organizational skills as this individual may be required to manage multiple job sites simultaneously.
