About the Role:

The Project Management Specialist C&I will guide project teams in best practices related to project setup, management, and contract administration. The PM Specialist will report and communicate earned value information to project teams and leadership and is responsible to navigate contracts, write technical narratives, serial letters, and notice letters. The PM Specialist will also be responsible to lead PMO initiatives and direct and lead team members to successful outcomes.

Sturgeon Electric\xe2\x80\x99s Commercial and Industrial (C&I) electrical construction division specializes in large-scale commercial electrical projects, telecommunications, traffic signalization, gas distribution, high voltage distribution service and maintenance to clients. Sturgeon Electric has experience performing projects under Integrated Lean Project Delivery methods, and also offers pre-construction services, in-house pre-fabrication capabilities, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) capabilities.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure Project Management Office policies are implemented and followed
  • Schedule and lead project team cadence meetings. These meetings will consist of project schedule updates, interpreting, calculating, and communicating schedule and cost impacts while providing guidance and direction on mitigation.
  • Present to internal and external stakeholders, in some cases these matters will have a potentially significant financial impact. The PM-PMO will report to the Director of Project Management.
  • Guide construction personnel throughout the project lifecycle in tracking and understanding basis of cost estimate and production tracking system
  • Act as the main point-of-contact for project personnel related to Sturgeon project management standards and Earned Value process
  • Implement Earned Value tracking on projects and host weekly cadence meetings
  • Participate in the estimate review process with internal and external stakeholders to direct and ensure compliance with project setup and controls process
  • Prepare project construction schedules using the Critical Path Method (CPM)
  • Prepare change order requests and review change orders with project teams
  • Prepare and present change order requests and equitable adjustment requests in alternative dispute resolution meetings
  • Prepare technical narratives related to impacts and change orders
  • Walk projects with project leadership team to validate percent complete and address areas of concern.
  • Coordinate meetings, schedule updates, submit deliverables, and address outstanding open items as requested by clients and project teams
  • Prepare look-ahead documents and weekly, monthly progress reports and billing information
  • Review and monitor job costs versus budgets; report concerns to project team and identify areas for improvement
  • Prepare complete cost estimates (labor and material) for commercial & industrial projects within set deadlines
  • Author serial letters and notice letters
  • Compare various project documents for accuracy and consistency
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Essential functions of this position are to be performed in a Company-designated office or field location. This position will have the flexibility to work remotely, however it will require occasional travel throughout the US and Canada.
  • Understand and comply with the Company\xe2\x80\x99s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards, if applicable
About You:

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of project management and/or estimating experience in the electrical construction industry
  • Project Management Institute - Project Management Professional certification
  • Minimum 3 years of prior leadership experience
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degree
  • Journeyman Electrician License - preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of specifications, contract interpretation, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time/cost/labor estimates for projects and services
  • Solid knowledge of the N.E.C. and all relevant local codes
  • Proven ability to read and understand civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, etc. plans and specifications to include blueprints, proposals and other documents as they relate to electrical work
  • Computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong knowledge of Accubid, JD Edwards Enterprise 1, Earned Value Management, and standard project management processes and principles
  • Proven ability to prepare, update and report construction schedules in Primavera P6 at an advanced level (resource loading, cost loading, earned value updating)
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong ability to speak and present publicly, with both internal and external stake holders
  • Self-driven with the ability to stay on-task for extended periods of time and a strong ability to navigate ambiguity
  • Occasional travel will be required through the United States

  • Salary $90,000-$110,000 / year
  • Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
