ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a skilled position, which oversees remodeling, construction and maintenance projects, managing budgets, schedules, and teams to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. This position also supervises HVAC, Electrical, Appliance and Plumbing Technicians and Contractors. Key responsibilities include planning and developing project scopes, coordinating with stakeholders, ensuring compliance with safety codes and other regulations, and reporting on project progress, costs, and risks. Essential skills include leadership, organizational ability, budget management, timely project management, communication, and problem-solving. You will play a vital role to ensure that AIDB's campuses and buildings are kept to a presentable and excellent standard. You will thrive in a self-driven environment and work equally well with both management and team members.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum ten (10) years accumulative painting, maintenance, landscaping carpentry, construction, plumbing, or electrical experience.
Minimum five (5) years supervisory experience.
Must possess valid State of Alabama Driver License and be able to be insured by AIDB insurance carrier
Must be able to read, work and interpret from architectural drawings and engineering prints.
Must be able to understand health and safety guidelines of hazardous materials or conditions, to include an understanding of a remediation program.
Must be able to work with hazardous material including fumes and airborne particles, toxic and nontoxic chemicals.
Must have general knowledge of principles applied in the care and use of tools and machinery, building components, hardware, flooring, ceramic tile, roof repair and materials, deep cleaning and maintenance programs.
Must have knowledge of safety codes and personal protection devices required on work sites.
Strong grasp of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction concepts and applicable codes
Must be able to work with all skilled trades in a professional manner
Must have the ability and competence to work unsupervised
Ability to troubleshoot in a commercial or residential building setting.
Must have knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems, carpentry, painting and general plumbing.
A sign language proficiency level of SURVIVAL according to the AIDB evaluation system upon employment.
Proficient computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite

Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB.
The annual employment period will be 260 days to include such holidays, sick leave, insurance benefits, and other benefits as are established by the President and the Board of Trustees.
