As a Project Engineering Manager I, you\'ll implement an integrated plan for product development including coordinating activities throughout the product lifecycle from design concept phase to release. You will monitor the product/program/project from initiation through delivery, interfacing with external customers or field-based employees on technical matters, as needed. You\'ll also review, manage, proactively challenge, and control status of project programs and budgets, manage schedules and prepare status reports, and guide and lead teams in achieving the goals of the program including issue identification, resolution and contingency planning. Work will vary from Concept of Operations development, requirements support, architecture/design, system test & verification, to operational deployment.

The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains \xe2\x80\x93 air, land, sea, space and cyber.

This role is open to a hybrid schedule

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor\'s of Science degree in a related field of study and typically 8 or more years of technical experience
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practice
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development team
  • Basic understanding of requirements management, system design, integration
  • Technical understanding of aerodynamics and impacts to powered and unpowered (glided) flight.
  • Knowledge of auto-pilot systems and controls.
  • Familiarity with communication datalinks and various Command and Control (C2) protocols.
  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical, thermodynamics, vibration damping, electrical and software as it relates to unmanned aircraft systems.
  • UAS System Development experience required.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain/maintain an active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance
Preferred:
  • Typically 2-4 years of relevant leadership and/or project management experience
  • Experience leading a multi-disciplinary design and development team and communicating with program management and customers
  • Familiarity with preparation and development of project estimates, technical proposals, and program cost and schedule management
  • Past history of leading baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of highly integrated trade studies and analysis of alternative
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics, parts lists, specifications, instructions and test procedure
  • Professional Certification in Program Management International (PMI) and/or Program Management Professional (PMP
  • Experience or certification in INCOSE standard
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
  • Experience with high altitude balloons is a benefit.
  • Experience with ground and flight test planning and operations.
  • Mixture of unmanned aircraft systems and high altitude platforms development desired.
