Job Description

Code the Machine. Power the Future.

The Programmer II is at the heart of GFS's automation engine. This role doesn't just write code--it brings custom-built machines to life. As a core member of the Electrical Engineering team, the Programmer II designs, builds, and unleashes advanced control programs that power high-impact, customer-driven automation solutions. Working side-by-side with engineers and innovators, this position transforms complex requirements into fast, reliable, and scalable systems. If you thrive on solving tough problems, pushing technology forward, and seeing your work move real equipment in the real world, this role puts you where it all happens.

What Success Looks Like

Architect and unleash advanced control systems--ladder logic, PLC, and PC-based platforms--that power GFS's most complex automation. Set the standard for power, wiring, and control design, executing fast, clean, and efficient solutions under tight timelines. Monitor, diagnose, and optimize live equipment remotely, keeping systems running and customers moving. Engineer end-to-end automation solutions by tightly integrating hardware and software into cohesive, high-performance systems. Translate raw equipment requests into clear, actionable design specifications that drive flawless execution. Design intuitive, operator-friendly control systems, including HMIs and touchscreen interfaces, that elevate the user experience. Stay on the cutting edge of industrial controls and their application within the finishing industry. Step in when it matters most--supporting commissioning, preventive maintenance, emergency response, warranty, repair, and technical direction for industrial electrical systems. Lead and collaborate across disciplines to solve tough challenges, improve cost and quality, and keep products on track and on time.

Qualifications That Shine

Education & Experience:

We're looking for candidates with an Associate's Degree and 7-12 years of hands-on experience, a Bachelor's Degree with 3-8 years, or a Master's Degree with 0-6 years--your skills and real-world impact matter most.

Technical Expertise:

Demonstrated mastery of core products, technologies, and industry standards, with the ability to apply knowledge to design, troubleshoot, and optimize advanced control and automation systems.

Problem-Solving & Innovation:

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, capable of translating complex requirements into practical, high-performance solutions.
