The Utah Board of Pardons & Parole is seeking an individual to complete high level tasks and objectives and to provide guidance as we work to provide trauma-informed care for victims, as well as inform and educate other advocates and the general public on the Board of Pardons & Parole's processes.



Duties:



This is a

Program Specialist I

job requiring working knowledge of roles and responsibilities of the Board of Pardons and Parole. The employee would;

be assigned to one or more specific responsibilities within the Board of Pardons & Parole, such as victim coordination, issuing warrants, scheduling hearings, parole violations, termination requests, and restitution. develop and maintain cooperative relationships with State, local, and private agencies. have the ability to work effectively in a team environment. facilitate the use of research data to improve existing programs and utilization of resources. meet parole hearing notice requirements to victims. oversee the victim coordination program within the Board of Pardons & Parole. attend parole hearings at Utah State Correctional Facility. collaborate with other victim services advocates throughout the State on trauma-informed care. provide training to other stakeholders, and large groups throughout the state. ensure victims' rights are maintained. research and respond to incoming questions and complaints.


The Ideal Candidate will have:

Experience with the criminal justice standards and practices. Prior knowledge of the criminal justice software programs. A strong working experience in data research and analysis. Experience providing trauma-informed services. Experience collaborating with stakeholders. Experience providing training through oral presentations.


Preferences:

Preference may be given to individuals that have a minimum of one year of completed work experience with Board of Pardons and Parole.

Tasks

Interacts regularly with individuals outside of the agency, specifically external stakeholders, and survivors of crime. Interprets, clarifies, explains and applies agency policy and procedures, business practices, federal or state laws and regulations, etc. Analyzes, summarizes and/or reviews data; reports findings, interprets results and/or makes recommendations. Develops or modifies rules, policies, or standards, etc. Provides consultation, makes recommendations, gives appropriate advice, and/or facilitates decisions. Monitors and evaluates operations, programs, processes and/or practices for quality and effectiveness; makes recommendations for improvement. Develops and implements procedures in response to agency policy, state and federal laws, etc. Provides technical assistance on agency issues, services, program(s). Use data to improve existing programs and utilization of resources.
