This position is located at the Adult Day Health unit of Maluhia, HHSC-Oahu Region. The incumbent of this position serves as the Center's program director and is responsible for the planning, organizing and directing programs of Maluhia Adult Day Health Center.
THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE:
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university with specialization in gerontology, social work, psychology, education, sociology, counseling, public health or a related field.
Excess experience of the type and quality described below, or any administrative, professional, technical, or other responsible work experience which required the ability to coordinate activities and/or programs, and work effectively with others may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: Five (5) years experience in social work, counseling, liaison, or a related field which required the knowledge of current social and economic conditions, community organizations and their activities and/or the services they offer to the community. The applicants overall experience must indicate knowledge and understanding of the problems and needs of the aged.
ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE
: Applicants must show strong affirmative administrative aptitudes and abilities. Evidence may be in the form of success in regular or special assignments or projects which involve administrative problems (e.g., in planning, organizing, promoting and directing a program providing staff advice and assistance); interest in management demonstrated by the performance of work assignments in a manner which clearly indicates awareness of managerial problems and the ability to solve them; completion of educational or training courses in the areas of management accompanied by the application of principles, which were learned, to work assignments; management's observation and evaluation of the applicant's leadership and managerial capabilities; success in trial assignments to managerial and/or administrative tasks.
SUBSTITUTIONS OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
A master's degree in any of the specialty fields mentioned in the Education Requirement section above from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required Specialized Experience.

Applicants must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under the federal law for unrestricted employment and at the time of appointment intend to reside in the State of Hawaii during the course of employment with the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.

MEDICAL/PHYSICAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENT:

The cost for physical examinations, except the cost for drug screening, shall be borne by the applicant and not the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.

Applicable checks will be conducted periodically, and any associated costs may be borne by the applicant. Your letter requesting the Administrative Review must include: 1) The job title(s) and recruitment number(s), 2) the specific reason(s) you are requesting the review noting if there is statute or rule violation, and 3) any additional information you want to submit to substantiate your request. If you do not submit your request within the twenty (20) days deadline, no Administrative Review will be conducted. Since the Administrative Review is a prerequisite to subsequent steps, failure to utilize this process will make you ineligible for subsequent appeals. The administrative review, formal complaint and/or appeals hearing will not necessarily postpone the recruitment process and/or rescind a selection. If you do not agree with the Administrative Review, you may file a Formal Compliant and then, if you are still not satisfied, you can appeal to the HHSC Merit Appeals Board.
