Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.
Incumbents recommend and implement changes to work plans, program performance standards and objectives for providing services, and eligibility requirements as permitted by program regulations and guidelines; and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or a staff consisting of several students, volunteers and/or contract staff.
The Division of Social Services (DSS) is recruiting for a Program Officer I position for the Child Care and Development Program (CCDP) in the Carson City Administrative Office. The CCDP unit is responsible for the administration of the Child Care and Development program. Under general supervision, the incumbent will function as a first-line supervisor who will plan, organize, train, supervise, evaluate staff performance, assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. Duties and responsibilities may also include implementing procedures and policies related to program operations, evaluate program outcomes related to eligibility, communicate with other state agencies, program participants, vendors, and other stakeholders, and other related duties as required. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, or other discipline related to the program assignment; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of para-professional program support experience equivalent to an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service which required the application of State and/or federal laws, policy and procedures; reviewing documents prepared by others for program compliance determinations; or preparing reports which summarize financial and statistical information; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.


Special Requirements

A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.


A State of Nevada/FBI fingerprint based background check is required as a condition of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
