Job Description

The Program Manager position offers a chance to drive meaningful impact by developing strategic community engagement and outreach efforts both on and off campus. This aims to expand the pool of college-ready students who are aware of career opportunities and degree paths within the College of Engineering and the Knowlton School of Architecture.


As an essential member of the Community, Access, Retention, and Empowerment (CARE) team, the Program Manager Partners with CARE staff, the College of Engineering faculty, and student organizations to promote STEM learning and curiosity among K-8 students and the broader community. Develops and implements innovative hands-on STEM experiences that apply engineering design principles to real-world challenges. Creates interactive outreach and engagement events that inspire interest in engineering, foster problem-solving skills, and build pathways to STEM education and careers.


The Program Manager collaborates closely with college and university partners to plan and manage logistics for National Engineers Week, CARE-connected Student Organization outreach events, summer camps, and K-8 school visits. They oversee secondary educator workshops and training designed to strengthen STEM instruction in the classroom and promote the integration of engineering design principles into curricula. The Program Manager is responsible for collecting data for all College of Engineering (COE) and Knowlton School of Architecture (KSA) community events, conducting volunteer training, and collaborating with CARE staff to create program summary reports. They also assist and support other CARE initiatives and programs as needed.

This student-facing role requires some evening and weekend commitments, as well as travel. Due to the nature of the position and the significant interaction with students, faculty, staff, and the public, a fully remote or hybrid schedule is limited.

Minimum Education & Qualifications




Required: Bachelor's degree; at least 4 years of experience in STEM related outreach, recruitment, or higher education; proven success in developing and implementing strategies to increase access to higher education; strong knowledge of admissions trends, practices, and principles; experience in program and event planning; excellent written and verbal communication skills; adaptable, self-motivated, creative, detail-oriented, and mission-driven; strong ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously; proficiency in Microsoft Office

Desired:

Experience advising student organizations or volunteers; familiarity with enrollment management tools and platforms; strong project management skills with the ability to navigate shifting priorities efficiently.

Hiring Range: $55,700 - $72,700


The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
