Overview



The Asheville Archery Training Center (AATC) is seeking a Director of Programs & Operations: a community-minded leader who thrives at the intersection of people, programs, and purpose. This is an exciting growth-stage leadership opportunity to help shape the next chapter of a beloved, grassroots nonprofit. The Director will oversee the daily operations of the Center, lead program development, and strengthen community partnerships, helping AATC grow sustainably while staying true to its values of excellence, integrity, and inclusion. No prior archery experience is required. If you have experience running youth programs, managing operations, or building vibrant community-based initiatives, we can teach you the sport. What matters most is your ability to execute, organize, and inspire to create the structure that supports a thriving, multi-generational community of athletes and families. The ideal candidate has experience leading youth programming, whether through coaching, schools, or summer camps, and a passion for helping youth and adults grow through sport. The right person will be energized by building systems, strengthening programs, and creating a lasting impact that supports generations of archers to come.

AATC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that develops elite archers in a competition-style club environment, but we're doing much more than improving technical skill. Oversee program scheduling and facility use in collaboration with the Board. Develop and adapt programs that support both technical excellence and holistic growth. Support evaluation and continuous improvement of programs and member experience. Lead planning and logistics for summer camps, tournaments, and special events. Provide regular communication and responsive support to members and families. Oversee onboarding for new members and monthly community events. Collaborate with coaches and the Board to maintain consistent beginner and intermediate programming. Hire, onboard, and schedule coaches and key staff. Provide supervision, evaluation, and professional support. Build and nurture a positive, collaborative culture among staff and volunteers. Coordinate and recognize volunteer contributions. Manage the AATC inbox and ensure timely communication. Develop and maintain systems for member management, registration, and communication (CRM, Mailchimp, etc.). Oversee facility operations including equipment, supplies, and contractor coordination. Track outcomes and assist in preparing the annual report. Keep signage, website, and public communications current and mission-aligned. Collaborate with marketing partners to promote programs and events. Support donor relations and program impact reporting. Build partnerships with schools, businesses, and community organizations. Represent AATC at events and cultivate strong community relationships. Work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure programs remain mission-aligned. Provide updates, data, and recommendations to support informed decision-making. Contribute to developing policies and systems that support organizational growth. Experience running or supporting youth or community programs (e.g., coaching, camps, schools, recreation, or nonprofits). Strong organizational and communication skills; able to balance multiple priorities with care. Experience in staff scheduling, program oversight, or operational management. Familiarity with CRM systems, email marketing tools, or basic data tracking. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a small team. Commitment to mission-driven, community-based programming. Willing to obtain Level 1 USA Archery certification (training provided). Experience with fundraising, marketing, or partnership development a plus. Physical ability to move equipment and lift up to 50 lbs. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other computer components. Speaking and hearing are sufficient to converse and understand conversations, both in-person, telephone, and virtual meetings. The cognitive skills needed to complete tasks, including abilities such as learning, remembering, focusing, categorizing, and integrating information for decision-making, problem-solving, and comprehending. Ability to learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, and the ability to communicate with managers and co-workers. Mental aptitude to respond appropriately in high-pressure situations or deadline-driven environments. Maintain a professional emotional response when working with others.
Pay: $49,151.18 - $59,192.82 per year
