Position Description

Advertised Job Summary


This position will play a critical role in the Institute's tick-borne disease research program. Their primary responsibilities will involve overseeing and coordinating various aspects of the domestic and international tick-borne disease research, including study design, data analysis, and project management. They will provide daily operational oversight while working with faculty leadership to design prospective grant applications/studies. This position will directly support the University's mission of research excellence through the supervision of high-quality data collection for an NIH-funded R01 grant on designing novel statistical methods to guide tick vector surveillance programs, as well as for pilot studies in Latin America on emerging tick-borne pathogens causing febrile human disease, to support prospective, competitive center-level grant applications.




Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience


Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and no prior work experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in biology or related fields. Experience working on medical entomology research projects. Solid background working on tick intake, processing, and diagnostic testing Working knowledge of field sampling design and executing these designs in real-world settings Willing to spend 1 or 2 days a week traveling for work-related events.

These formal technical documents may be created to support new studies, such as an odor attractant study, or may be updated as surveillance methods change. Maintaining updated SOPs should include routine audits of written procedures and interviews with the field team to incorporate any alterations that have not been previously documented.

Coordinate field collections schedule, manage weekly staff and intern schedules, and resolve minor scheduling issues or other logistical challenges for weekly sampling events.
