POSITION PURPOSE / IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATION
The Program Coordinator II - Recreation Fleet is responsible for scheduling and maintenance of recreation vehicles, which include a 24-passenger bus, a 15-passenger bus, a 15-passenger van, a recreation trailer, and other recreation fleet vehicles. This position also works with Fleet to access a truck for towing a trailer when needed. This position serves as a lead worker for hourly bus and van drivers, trains drivers on vehicles, maintains accurate records for vehicle maintenance and driver training, and tracks the location of all vehicle keys. This position is also responsible for safely transporting and chaperoning people of all ages to various locations throughout the Denver Metropolitan area and the surrounding mountains. This position ensures a positive customer experience, provides a safe and efficient trip for participants, and adheres to a pre-planned schedule. Requires knowledge of Colorado roads, safety practices, and the ability to follow policies and procedures. Responsible for complying with all traffic regulations and exercising extreme caution to operate vehicles safely and courteously. Responsible for general maintenance such as weekly pre-/post-vehicle inspections, cleanliness, and checking vehicle fluids and safety equipment to ensure vehicles are in safe operating condition daily.
The position requires a Class B Commercial Driver's License with air brake certification and a P-2 or S endorsement. It is subject to annual federally mandated drug and alcohol testing, as well as a Department of Transportation physical examination every two (2) years.
This position is classified as safety-sensitive due to the nature of the work. Employees in this position may be subject to random drug testing and/or increased supervision, as outlined in the personnel policies and rules.
The full salary range for this position is stated above. The starting salary range is dependent on the qualifications and experience of each candidate.

Essential Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities, and Tasks
1. Safely transports people of all ages to various locations throughout the Denver metropolitan area and surrounding mountains
Demonstrates knowledge of the Denver metro area and state roadways
Adheres to traffic and highway safety rules and regulations and follows defensive driving principles to avoid accidents
Exercises extreme caution to avoid accidents while operating passenger vehicles
Assumes responsibility for the safety of passengers during loading, unloading, and transporting
Uses sound judgment to make decisions involving the safety of employees and citizens
Reads and understands maps and schedules a safe and efficient route of travel
Supervises participants during transport and activities, depending on the nature of the activity and group
Follows emergency procedures to guarantee the safety of passengers
Understand the basic workings of a large passenger vehicle to ensure safe and effective vehicle operation
Handles paperwork, receipts, and cash for parking and miscellaneous charges at venues
Reports any accidents or delays
Regulates heating equipment and ventilation of vehicles for the comfort of passengers
Remains calm in an emergency
Performs First Aid and CPR if necessary
Can be assigned a P-Card to purchase equipment and supplies
2. Performs general maintenance and ensures vehicles are in safe and clean operating condition on a weekly basisChecks oil, windshield wiper fluid, and gas levels; fills gas tank as needed
Checks the condition of tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, and other safety equipment
Cleans inside and outside of vehicles
Reports any vehicle malfunctions or needed repairs
Maintains a variety of records and reports, including but not limited to mileage, routing, maintenance, and time schedules
Ensures that the Fleet Division maintains vehicles and meets all state of Colorado licensing/registration requirements
Transports vehicles to the Fleet Division as needed for any maintenance
3. Manages the schedule of the recreation fleet vehicles and staff driversSupervises, trains, and assists in hiring and evaluating bus drivers
Supervises bus drivers and coordinates work schedules
Works with the Recreation Coordinator/Specialist/Supervisor to assess vehicle needs and schedule vehicles and staff drivers to meet the needs
Works with other city employees as the need arises to schedule vehicles
Maintains an accurate Outlook calendar to track reservations and the use of fleet vehicles and staff drivers
Communicates vehicle daily pre-and post-trip expectations and holds bus drivers to expectations
Communicates regularly with Recreation Coordinator/Specialist/Supervisor on vehicle maintenance or driver schedules that may impact the delivery of a program or service
4. All certifications and licenses are current, including:Valid Colorado Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class C with air brake certification and P-2 or S endorsement, and safe driving record

Required
Must be at least 21 years of age

Previous experience driving a bus

This position is physical in nature and requires sufficient physical strength and stamina to:

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed constantly outdoors, with occasional indoor activity. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including summer sun and temperatures that may exceed 100 degrees, and winter conditions that include snow and freezing temperatures.
Required Materials and Equipment
24-passenger bus, 15-passenger bus, 15-passenger van, a pick-up truck utilized for towing, and an enclosed trailer.
