The Population and Community Health Bureau (PCHB) is within the Public Health Division with the New Mexico Department of Health. The mission of the PCHB is to partner with populations, communities, organizations, and systems to create health equity where New Mexicans live, learn, work and play. The PCHB values are centered on positive relationships, accountability, respect and excellence. The Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program is one of ten programs within the PCHB.

Why does the job exist?



This position provides breast and cervical cancer screening education and outreach; leads and supports health systems change/evidence-based intervention and community-clinical linkage projects for increasing breast and cervical cancer screening rates in New Mexico; and provides technical assistance to and oversight of contractors.

How does it get done?



Key responsibilities:



Plan, implement, and evaluate education and outreach initiatives for the Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection (BCC) Program among diverse communities in New Mexico. Support the development of new partnerships and coalitions and maintain existing partnerships. Utilize strong technical writing and analytical skills for grant reporting, evaluation, and communication. Develop and monitor contracts for the BCC Program with partners in community education, community-based navigation, and health systems change, among other activities. Develop and/or revise educational materials such as pamphlets, presentations and curricula for audiences with different levels of health literacy. Conduct educational presentations on evidence-based breast and cervical cancer screening for priority populations. Provide technical assistance to contractors and other partners. Provide leadership, support, coordination, and collaboration to Population and Community Health Bureau processes and activities.

Minimum Qualification



Associate's Degree and two (2) years of experience program administration or project management in areas related to the purpose of the position. Any combination of education and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements



Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Working Conditions



This position includes activities carried out in an office setting, with considerable and constant exposure to VDT and personal computer use, extensive phone usage, and extended periods of sitting. Some lifting (up to 40 pounds), periods of standing, and the ability to perform in outdoor settings are required. Statewide travel, with the possibility of out-of-state travel and/or overnight travel, is required. Responsibilities would include numerous deadlines, and the ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently is necessary. Some data entry into complex data management systems is also required.
