Program Coordinator, Community Education

Job Description

This position is responsible for coordinating Community Education Courses and Community Engagement Activities, with a wide range of courses, programming, and education that supports the diverse interests of our community.
This description is intended to indicate the types of duties and responsibilities requested of the employee assigned this title. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the duties and responsibilities that may be required:

  • Designs and develops a variety of educational programs for organizations and individuals; coordinates content and course offerings with interests of the organization.
  • Determines timing and location of courses within Oakland County scheduling courses accordingly, acquiring the necessary supplies and equipment, and preparing classroom packets.
  • Utilizes tracking system to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Evaluates available sources of instructors for programs; selects and recommends instructors for hire, with the goal of building a diverse database of instructors.
  • Maintains all fiscal information relating to programs; prepares program budget with Executive Director of Government & Community Relations; monitors budget; recommends program fees.
  • Prepares a statement of work for instructors.
  • Initiates invoices to staff and customers; prepares and analyzes program financial records for various reports; submits reports to Executive Director of Government & Community Relations.
  • Coordinates program assessment and evaluation to determine effectiveness; analyzes and follows up with recommendations for improvement of future programs.
  • In conjunction with instructors, assists with marketing of programs; writing the course descriptions and coordinating the development and production of marketing materials, both electronic and in print; selecting target groups for marketing; coordinating and developing timeline for social media coverage in partnership with College's marketing department.
  • Coordinates registration processes for programs; attends programs to solve problems with registration, room scheduling, etc.
  • Coordinates outreach efforts to promote community focused events and projects.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
  • Ability to work additional hours, as needed.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Business, Training and Development or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years of experiences with education, preferably within community programming and/or higher education. Experience with multi-cultural students and staff preferred.
