Education and Work Experience: * Education: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
Scope of Position: The Program Assistant, under supervision of the Director of Operations, provides on-site monitoring, maintenance and supervision of the facility, residents, and their visitors. The Program Assistant prepares and serves meals, performs cleaning and maintenance of the building, prepares House Duty completion paperwork, and checks for House Duty completion, and maintains the safety of the residents by enforcing rules and procedures and assisting the residents with daily needs during the operation hours of the residence, washes house linens, as well as performing extensive cleaning and organization during the overnight operation hours of the shelter.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: * Current CPR/ First Aid, both infant/child and adult.
  • Current Idaho State Food Handlers\xe2\x80\x99 License (must be able to obtain in first 30 days of employment)
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Must be congenial and be able to work with difficult individuals.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Observe and regulate activities at the facility in the evening and overnight, ensuring rules and procedures are followed. Write Conduct Reports for review at Case Conference.
  • Develop good, professional working relationships with residents, helping to resolve conflicts.
  • Prepares and serves meals using proper food safety and storage practices.
  • Supervise housekeeping duties, so that residential personal and common areas are clean, neat, and organized.
  • Refer safety needs or concerns to the Lead Program Assistant or Director of Operations, in writing via reporting software.
  • Issue necessary housekeeping and personal items to residents (laundry soap, hygiene items, linens, diapers, etc).
  • Maintain an accurate Shift End Report each shift as directed in the reporting software.
  • Attend required staff meetings and trainings.
  • Ensure that the entire facility is clean and organized. This includes, but is not limited to, cleaning the kitchen (microwave, stovetop, grill, sinks, counter, dishwasher, etc.) and washing any dishes, placing utensils, plates, cups, bowls and cooking pots and pans in the proper place. Put away and organize food in the pantry and break down boxes. Clean and organize the following rooms on the corresponding days: Mondays the kitchen refrigerators, Tuesdays the linen room, Wednesdays the Donation closet, Thursdays the food pantry, and Fridays the kitchen freezer. Once a month clean the ice machine and shower curtains. See specific instructions on extra duty checklist.
  • As needed participate in weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual deep clean of facilities.
  • As directed, clean rooms after resident exit, preparing for the next family.
  • Wash facility laundry daily (rags, towels, etc).
  • Answer phones and make appropriate referrals.
  • Work in conjunction with the Social Services staff and Social Services Director to meet the needs of the clients.
  • Make perimeter checks as needed, locking outside doors when required.
  • Make lunches for all residents who are signed up for lunches, nightly.
  • Make lunch and dinner for residents as needed in the absence of the Food Services Assistant.
  • Prepare breakfast for Residents and Hot Meal Program.
  • Prepare, serve, and clean up evening snacks for residents.
  • Use downtime in swing and overnight shifts to prepare Food Boxes for Food Pantry Program.
  • Provide emergency backup to other staff in case of an emergency.
  • Follow Protecting The Mission policies.
  • Maintain a clean office and workspace.
  • Perform other duties, as determined by supervisor.
Physical Requirements:

Sit, walk, reach, stand, bend, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.

Lift up to 30 lbs, lifting should be attempted safely using appropriate equipment.

MISCELLANEOUS:

The Program Assistant position is a grant-based position, and the position is dependent on the ongoing receipt of the grant.
