POSITION
PURPOSE
:
South Dakota Mines has an opening for a Program Assistant I in the Electrical Engineering & Computer Science department. This position will provide administrative support for the department. Duties include creation and maintenance of budgets, monitoring expenses and preparing projections; monitoring and purchasing equipment and supplies; travel arrangements; assisting with recruiting and hiring office staff; monitoring and approving payroll reports; assisting and performing various functions within the Electrical Engineering & Computer Science department and other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:work processes and practices pertaining to public administration, management and professional subject areas;
basic statistical measures, research methods, database development and maintenance;
basic bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles;
high level of proficiency with computer systems and common applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
Ability to:communicate information clearly and concisely both in oral and written form, expressing ideas in a manner that the user can understand, exercising tact, patience and professional demeanor;
establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public;
gather, interpret, comprehend, report and use information concerning assigned activities;
plan and coordinate effectively, be detail oriented, handle multiple tasks, prioritize accordingly and meet strict deadlines;
assess process effectiveness and develop changes or alternatives;
train and provide guidance to staff and service users;
conduct research, and compile and analyze data;
use personal computer and software;
provide outstanding customer service.
