Job Responsibilities

Knowledge of recruitment, placement and mentoring guidelines and procedures as established by the National Guard Bureau. The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, computer skills, particularly database management and word-processing. The ability to \xe2\x80\x9ccold canvass\xe2\x80\x9d. The ability to make presentations to individuals and groups promoting the academy. Cold call and pre-approach organizations/businesses to assist in securing employment, internships or job shadowing opportunities for enrolled cadets and academy graduates. The person in this position receives direction and guidance from the RPM Coordinator. The purpose of this position is to plan and implement candidate recruiting activities, establish and maintain contact with sources of candidate referrals across the state, make individual and group presentations, keep all sources updated on the academy activities and opportunities, continuously work to increase number of candidate referral sources in completing applications, assist in candidate interview and admissions process, explore and develop sources of mentor referrals and placement opportunities, transport and/or supervise cadets when participating in off0site academy activities, perform all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor\'s degree and relevant program experience, or a high school diploma and four years relevant experience.

Additional Comments

Experience in recruiting of youth and adult volunteers, working with youth mentors, assisting youth to obtain and maintain employment as well as counseling youth in areas designed to improve employability. Perform all other duties as assigned. Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies and procedures relevant to the area of employment. Individual must be willing to travel overnight, promote a good work environment and maintain a professional appearance. Position requires that the individual maintain up-to-date knowledge of the status of assigned program areas. Maintains harmonious working relationship with all Youth Challenge Departments and Programs to ensure the needs of the cadets remains first and foremost. An ability to communicate with other professionals effectively. A resume will not be accepted in lieu of an online South Carolina State Employment Application.
