POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the efficient day to day operation, which includes multiple shifts, for the production rooms as well as the development and management of the production team. This position also has general areas of responsibility for EHS which include safety and regulatory compliance, EHS process improvement, and program management. The position will have EHS functional direction from the regional EHS manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise, motivate, monitor, and evaluate the performance and responsibilities of operators in the Plant on first, second and third shifts.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities
  • Manage and operate production and warehouse facilities in compliance with quality system procedures, GMPs, ISO, FSSC, HACCP, OSHA and all pertinent federal, state and local regulations.
  • Assist in development, training, and monitoring of GMPs as necessary
  • Assist in regulatory training as necessary
  • Understand and implement all position appropriate GMPs, SOPs and Safety requirements when carrying out job duties
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Balchem Corporation\'s policies and applicable laws
  • Train operators on various equipment and processes including: Packaging and Blending Equipment, Reactor, and Distillation Equipment; good manufacturing practices; OSHA safety training, lockout/tag out, Sanitation, Master Sanitation Schedule, general housekeeping/line clean up, line set up, batching, and other procedures for packaging
  • Monitor inventories and ingredient usage
  • Ensure all paperwork is complete (including time cards on ADP) in an accurate and timely manner; ensure the documentation complies with Company standards
  • Monitor product quality to meet Company standards
  • Report to Operations Manager any deviation of scheduling or quality of service that may become a potential liability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Adhere to all Company policies and procedures, i.e. personnel, safety, and equipment maintenance and upkeep
  • Administers employee training content and maintains all records.
  • Ensures that compliance programs and procedures meet the EHS regulatory requirements.
  • Administers and facilitates employee participation programs including internal audits, safety committee meetings/events, employee safety observations, and employee incentive programs.
  • Manages all EHS regulatory reporting and regularly communicates status to Operations Manager and Regional EHS Manager
  • Participates in and reports on regulatory audits.
  • Management including management of change, process hazard analysis, mechanical integrity, and contractor management.
  • Administers and manages industrial hygiene monitoring of employees.
  • Manages hazardous waste program and recordkeeping.
  • Develops and assists in developing site procedures and visual work instructions, especially those that create process or safety improvement.
  • Maintains all EHS records / documentation.
  • Supports incident management at the site with direction from the regional EHS manager and the Operations Manager.
  • Collects data and reports on safety incidents and resulting investigations.
  • Drives EHS culture continuous improvement \xe2\x80\x93 completes assigned site projects and corporate initiatives while convincing others that zero incidents is possible.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor of Arts/Science (BA/BS) three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience required.
  • Previous manufacturing supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Individual must be equipped with strong motivation, organization, time management, documentation, and communication skills (both orally and written)
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Individual should demonstrate strong work ethics (punctual, dependable, and trustworthy)
  • Proficiency with computer systems and software programs, especially Microsoft D-365 (or other ERP system) and Microsoft Office (Excel and Word),and be quality and process oriented.
  • The ability to utilize common sense and skills in completing responsibilities and operating equipment conforming to Company production, personnel, and safety procedures is needed
