The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production operations on the shop floor to ensure safety, quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery. This role requires hands-on manufacturing experience and a solid mechanical background to effectively supervise equipment-based operations, troubleshoot production issues, and support continuous improvement.
The Production Supervisor works closely with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to keep machines running efficiently and to address operational issues promptly.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise daily production activities, ensuring production schedules, output targets, and quality standards are met
Lead and support production operators on roll-forming lines, stamping machines, drilling lines, robotic arms, and other steel fabrication equipment
Monitor machine operation and production flow, identifying mechanical or process-related issues that impact efficiency or safety
Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and adjustments to support production and coordinate with maintenance for complex repairs
Ensure proper machine setup, changeovers, and operational readiness before production starts
Enforce safety policies, including lockout/tagout procedures, PPE requirements, and safe work practices
Train, guide, and coach production employees on standard operating procedures, equipment use, and safety expectations
Conduct routine inspections of equipment and work areas to identify risks, mechanical issues, or improvement opportunities
Communicate production status, downtime issues, and staffing needs to management clearly and timely
Maintain production records, shift reports, and basic documentation related to output, downtime, and issues
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to productivity, safety, and equipment utilization
Required Qualifications
Experience as a Production Supervisor, Lead, or Senior Operator in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
Strong understanding of mechanical systems and equipment used in steel fabrication or industrial manufacturing
Hands-on experience with production machinery such as roll-forming machines, stamping equipment, drilling lines, saws, or similar industrial equipment
Ability to identify mechanical issues, perform basic troubleshooting, and communicate effectively with maintenance teams
Strong leadership and communication skills on the shop floor
Solid knowledge of manufacturing safety standards and procedures
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in steel fabrication, solar tracking components, or heavy manufacturing
Ability to read basic mechanical drawings or equipment manuals
Experience working with preventive maintenance coordination
Bilingual (English / Spanish) is a plus
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Ability to work on the production floor for extended periods
Ability to lift, bend, stand, and walk as required in a manufacturing environment
Comfortable working around heavy machinery and industrial equipment
This position will begin as a staffing agency placement, with the opportunity for conversion to direct hire depending on performance and company needs.
