Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the safety and productivity of all production employees staffed on designated shift, as well as shop security. This position is accountable for ensuring that production scheduled for completion is executed in a timely manner and within all quality parameters and for participation in both the hiring and performance management processes.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, AND/OR SKILLS:

Written and verbal communication skills Knowledge of basic shop mathematics Experience in heavy structural fabrication Ability to read and understand blueprints, shop drawings and welding symbols Proficient in effective operation of welding equipment

DUTIES:

Leads and controls skilled labor and work crews engaged in all activities concerned with the erection works aspects of the project. Ability to optimize resources (manpower, equipment and materials) to ensure efficient and timely completion of the works. Able to demonstrate good organizational skills, following policies, procedures and work practices, and developing improvements where necessary. Ability to read, interpret and follow method statements and procedures. Competent in reading and understanding blueprints, specifications, drawings, and all other discipline related project and engineering documentation. Commands respect of workforce, and develops excellent working relationships with all other department personnel as well as client management. Able to give instructions in an efficient and effective way to his workforce. Supervises crews to raise, place and unite girders, columns and other structural steel members to form completed structures. Ensures that work crews are properly supplied with tools, equipment and materials. Supervises work crews to best utilize manpower and materials, exercised discipline at the work site to prevent absenteeism, unsafe work practices and idleness. Familiar with all Company QA/QC and safety procedures / regulations and enforces them.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

Safety Rules, Policies, and Procedures Maintain orderly and clean work area Attend all required safety meetings Inspect equipment each day to ensure it meets safety standards Must inspect tools daily before each use, to include extension cords Use hand and power tools safely at all times with correct guards in place Wear personal protective equipment in accordance with policy and adequate for specific tasks Wear specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE),including but not limited to: Fire/flame resistant clothing Heavy flame resistant gloves Respirators when welding harmful metals or when ventilation is not adequate Steel/hard toe boots Hearing protection

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

In order to do the job, the following physical requirements are necessary:

Ability to stand for long periods of time Ability to occasionally pull, push, carry, or lift tools, equipment or materials 50 lbs. or less Ability to withstand occasional bending, squatting, or crouching Ability to frequently handle (hold, seize, grasp, turn, etc.) tools, equipment, or material Ability to work in inclement weather conditions, to include cold, heat, and humidity

Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 50 - 60 per week
