Blue Whale Materials is an American recycling company producing a source of domestic critical minerals from battery material. We are building lithium-ion battery recycling facilities producing a high-quality black mass containing cobalt, nickel, manganese, and lithium in the first stage of a closed-loop solution for lithium-ion battery manufacturers.
Blue Whale Materials has established its first recycling plant in Bartlesville, OK. As we grow, we are seeking talented and motivated candidates to join our team. Compensation is based on experience.
Job Summary:
The Production Supervisor will oversee daily operations of the recycling facility to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant processing of materials. This role manages production staff, maintains process flow, implements operational improvements, and ensures adherence to quality and safety standards.
Primary Responsibilities:
Daily Operations:
Supervise and coordinate production processes to meet safety, quality, and production targets.
Assign tasks and monitor performance of production staff on shift.
Ensure all equipment is operated safely and efficiently, reporting any issues to maintenance or management.
Other duties as required.
Team Leadership:
Provide coaching, direction, and motivation to team members.
Conduct shift meetings to communicate daily priorities, safety reminders, and company updates.
Facilitate training of new employees on machinery operation, safety procedures, and company policies.
Safety & Compliance:
Enforce all company safety policies and procedures, ensuring proper use of PPE and adherence to OSHA standards.
Perform regular safety inspections and lead incident reporting or investigations when needed.
Quality & Continuous Improvement:
Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
Address nonconforming products and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Support continuous improvement initiatives.
Administrative & Reporting:
Maintain accurate shift production records, employee attendance, and performance data.
Participate in daily safety & production meetings and provide shift performance updates to management.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
3+ years of experience in a supervisory or lead role within manufacturing, recycling, or industrial operations.
Strong leadership and team building skills with proven ability to supervise diverse teams.
Solid understanding of safety protocols, quality standards, and production processes.
Effective communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Proficient in basic computer skills. (Microsoft Office, data entry, email communication).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in mining, minerals processing, recycling, e-waste processing, or universal waste.
OSHA 10 or 30-Hour General Industry Certification
Mechanical aptitude with understanding of production machinery and troubleshooting.
Forklift and material handling equipment certification.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry 50-70 lbs.
Stand and walk continuously for 8 to 12 hour shifts on concrete or grated surfaces.
Climb stairs and access elevated platforms or mezzanines as required.
Bend, squat, kneel, twist, and reach in and around equipment during setup, maintenance, and cleaning tasks.
Willing to transition to a 12 hour shift schedule for 24/7 operation
