Job Description

The Production Studio and Digital Arts Equipment Coordinator plays a central role in ensuring the effective operation of the video production studio and its accompanying facilities, including the digital arts studios. Key responsibilities include maintaining, organizing, and troubleshooting various audio/visual equipment, offering trainings/workshops as appropriate, and providing technical support to production teams (mainly faculty and students). Additionally, the coordinator oversees the equipment ordering, scheduling and allocation of studio space and equipment, and other tasks to facilitate efficient production workflows. The coordinator may be assigned to teach up to one course per semester.

Responsibilities


Equipment Management & Maintenance

Maintain an inventory of all audiovisual equipment, including cameras, lighting fixtures, microphones, tripods, and cables. Perform routine maintenance and inspections to ensure equipment is in optimal working condition, including cleaning, calibration, and battery checks. Coordinate with vendors for repairs or replacements as needed and document maintenance activities for reference and reporting. Implement and enforce proper equipment handling procedures to minimize risk of damage or loss. Manage supplies, equipment, and materials budgets in coordination with administrative staff and academic leadership.

Studio Setup & Operations

Set up and configure equipment for studio productions, including cameras, lighting, and audio devices; support faculty and student-led projects as needed. Prepare and organize studio and digital arts teaching spaces to meet specific course and production requirements. Coordinate with faculty, students, producers, and directors to plan and execute studio shoots efficiently. Manage scheduling and allocation of studio space and equipment. Supervise students working in digital arts studio spaces and provide guidance on proper equipment use. Monitor studio usage and implement protocols to optimize resource utilization and minimize downtime.

Technical Support & Training

Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting for production staff, faculty, and students during studio shoots. Interface with ITS to ensure digital arts studio computers remain current and functional. Offer guidance and training on the proper use of equipment, software, and studio facilities.

Safety & Compliance

Ensure a safe working environment in digital arts studio spaces, coordinating with faculty, professional staff, and the UNE Health and Safety Officer. Conduct regular safety inspections, address hazards proactively, and stay informed about industry standards and regulations. Coordinate studio cleaning and upkeep as needed.

Other

Teach up to one Communications course in digital arts production each term (Fall and Spring), depending on need and qualifications. Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications


Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts in film/video production or a related field plus at least 3 years of experience in video production or related fields or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.Master of Arts (MA) or Master of Fine Arts (MFA) preferred. Relevant college teaching experience is desirable. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, DaVinci Resolve, and other industry-standard software and editing tools. Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting a variety of audiovisual equipment, including cameras, lighting, and sound systems. Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Excellent organizational and time management abilities. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a production environment.
