General Description:

The Production Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing production schedules to ensure customer orders are fulfilled on time while maintaining appropriate inventory levels. This role serves as a key liaison between procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and other cross-functional teams to ensure the efficient flow of materials and resources throughout the production process. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive in identifying and resolving scheduling or supply chain challenges.

Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain production schedules that balance customer demand, inventory targets, and manufacturing capacity. Coordinate with procurement, manufacturing, and logistics teams to ensure timely availability of materials, components, and equipment. Monitor daily production progress and adjust schedules as needed to address delays, capacity changes, or shifts in customer demand. Analyze capacity and resource constraints to optimize production efficiency and minimize downtime. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve scheduling conflicts, improve communication, and enhance workflow. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of production data, inventory levels, and work orders. Identify and implement process improvements to increase planning accuracy, reduce waste, and improve operational performance. Support new product introductions by integrating planning requirements into production timelines and launch schedules. Generate reports and performance metrics related to production planning, material availability, and on-time delivery. Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and safety procedures.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 3+ years of experience in production planning, materials management, or a related manufacturing role. Proficiency in ERP systems (preferably NetSuite) and planning tools. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities across departments. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills; experience with forecasting or capacity modeling preferred.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Occasional time spent on the production floor to review scheduling, workflow, and progress. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
