The Production Manager will oversee all aspects of assembly for the manufacturing team, driving a Lean culture and embedding continuous improvement into every process. They will be responsible for safety, quality, delivery, and cost, while building and sustaining the management systems that empower the teams to deliver outstanding results.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operational Excellence Production Flow
Plan and optimize production capacity, line balancing, and labor utilization
Manage WIP, kanban systems, and material flow to support on-time delivery
Partner with Scheduling, Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve constraints and bottlenecks
Monitor daily performance metrics (output, downtime, scrap, labor efficiency) and drive corrective actions
Lean Manufacturing Continuous Improvement
Deploy Leader Standard Work and coach effective Gemba walks across all shifts
Lead Kaizen events and continuous improvement initiatives
Facilitate Value Stream Mapping activities to identify waste and improvement opportunities
Apply structured problem-solving methods (A3, PDCA, 5 Whys)
Quality Systems Compliance
Ensure compliance with ISO9001 and applicable industry standards (NETA, IEEE, CSA, UL, NFPA, NEC)
Utilize SPC, layered process audits, and quality dashboards to sustain performance
Partner with Quality to address nonconformances and customer issues
Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
Safety, 5S Workplace Organization
Champion 5S implementation and sustainment across production areas
Partner with EHS to promote a "Vision Zero" safety culture
Ensure safe work practices, housekeeping standards, and ergonomic improvements
Leadership Employee Development
Coach supervisors, team leads, and frontline employees
Develop skill matrices and cross-training plans
Foster employee engagement and recognition for continuous improvement contributions
Support performance management and succession planning
Performs additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills Abilities

Required
Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and daily management systems with the ability to deploy continuous improvement practices
Ability to apply structured problem-solving methods and use operational KPIs (SQDCP) to drive performance improvements
Knowledge of production operations including capacity planning, material flow, and line balancing principles
Strong communication and coaching skills with the ability to lead, influence, and develop frontline teams and supervisors
Ability to analyze production data and translate results into actionable operational improvements
Ability to collaborate effectively across functions including Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and EHS
Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining focus on safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives
Preferred
Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies supported by formal certification
Knowledge of ISO9001 quality management systems and applicable industry standards (UL, NEC, IEEE, NETA, CSA)
Skill in using ERP systems and digital performance dashboards for production reporting and planning
Knowledge of SPC, audit processes, and quality system tools
Ability to lead change initiatives and support cultural transformation in manufacturing environments
Skill in developing supervisors and building leadership capability
Qualifications Experience

Associate's degree in Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Operations or Supply Chain Management or related field and at least 5+ years of work experience in a production/operations leadership position is required. Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Operations or Supply Chain Management or related field is preferred.
